A little patch of heaven, just what was needed after a shocking drive on Botswana's roads. Unfortunately, the road into Woodlands was alarmingly corrugated, and nearly wrecked us and our little car!!! (Note: coming from Francistown towards Nata, we took the first road signposting "Woodlands Stop Over and Lodge"...SHOCKING road. However, when we left the following morning, we took a different road/exit, which was easier on us, and on our car.)
However, the friendly, kind and helpful groundsman Daniel welcomed us with cheerful enthusiasm, and looked after us extremely well. (Even though we'd stuffed up and booked on the wrong night, he obligingly found beds for us - thank goodness!)
We purchased ready-made and extremely yummy meals from Mike's kitchen - exactly what we needed THANK YOU.
The lodges were VERY comfortable - and extremely well appointed, tastefully decorated. As I said, a little patch of sheer heaven.
We ordered breakfast, and the ever-obliging Daniel duly arrived with our pre-packaged breakfasts - at the requested time. Much appreciated, and very well enjoyed.

Room tip: Watch the road into Woodlands...

Good day LindsayWynne,
Thank you so much for your very high rating and wonderfully honest review of us here at Woodlands Stop Over & Lodge.
So very sorry to hear that you had taken the 'impassable' route getting to us! We have put a sign up at the start of that route warning travellers of it's impassability but the digital route maps tend to recommend that route as being the shortest. Glad you got out along the correct formal road.
Thrilled to hear Daniel rescued you and that you got to enjoy a delicious "Mike's meal" -- they have become very popular with our valued guests.
The best news is that you had a comfortable sleep and stay with us in one of the Riverview Rooms.
Trusting that the rest of your journey through our beautiful Botswana was a happy and memorable one and that you will be back to stay with us again very soon?
Kind regards,
Mike & Anne West (Owners)

An incredible oasis to stay overnight. I based myself there for 8 days, while working in the region.
I cannot imagine another place for an overlander to stay. Well kept gardens and camping sites are all grassy with lots of shade. I stayed in the riverview cottages.
The staff is very friendly and efficient. All accommodation units and abulutions are spotless!

As per my previous experience, it was a delight to be looked forward to at the end of the day. Clean, well appointed, spacious, quiet and well laid out. Walking in the river bed in the evening was most pleasant.
As an observation, the kitchen sink exudes an somewhat unpleasant odour.
The smaller shower heads could do with some maintenance as they seem to spray more on the join than through the shower holes.
Otherwise, I will always make this lodge my number one stop over.
Thank you for the experience.

Good day MichaelLGames
Thank you so much for taking the time to rate and review us, Woodlands Stop Over & Lodge here on this forum.
We are thrilled to hear that you look forward to your stays with us and thank you for making us your choice of accommodation!
We accept your comments about the odour from the kitchen sink and the lime on the shower heads. Our maintenance and house keeping teams have been informed of your comments and the tasks to rectify the situations have been undertaken.
We, however, do have little cards in each room asking for valued comments (such as these). They get collected by the housekeepers the following day and this makes for much speedier attention to be given to problems such as these.
We look forward to seeing you again in the near future.
Kind regards,
Mike & Anne West (Owners)

Great to see the maintenance of the accommodation is being kept updated, unlike some other places I have stayed. Also a really nice and well kept venue overall. The camping sites are really very nice and private. The staff at reception are doing a great job to make guests feel welcome, thank you.

Good day ebotha2024,
Thank you so much for your high rating of us here at Woodlands Stop Over & Lodge.
We so appreciate all your comments -- and yes the maintenance carries a very high priority for us!
All the staff work very hard and with determined purpose to keep their areas of responsibility in 'tip-top' condition which in turn helps to keep the property in presentable condition!
The campsites have taken some pressure this summer season with extremely hot weather and poor rainfall..
The reception staff love welcoming our guests and helping them to feel at home at Woodlands!
We trust that the rest of your trip through Botswana was a happy and memorable one and that you will be back again soon to visit us?
Kind regards,
Mike & Anne West (Owners)
