Outstanding setting and facilities! Great final night to our family tour! Great braai overlooking the river and listening to the wilds one last night before returning to the City. Certainly will return!!

It is very beautiful, calm and relaxing. The grounds are kept very clean, although the grass needed some watering. The ablutions were ok. In the evenings you cannot use the facilities due to all the insects. As soon as you open the shower, there are worms coming from the drain. And the lights attrack all kinds of chemically weaponized insects and a lot of spiders. I am aware of the rain that expedited the insects, just thinking there might be a solution to minimize it.

Good day AdonareAfrica,
Thank you for taking the time to rate us so highly and for the lovely review!
As you may or may not know, Botswana is experiencing a drought and water shortages have been of huge concern.
The monitoring of water usage has been very closely observed so that we were not forced to CLOSE the campsite but instead sacrifice certain areas for water conservation-- hence the lawns and beautiful gardens had to suffer the most.
We paint all the external globes a yellow for light pollution and also to attract the flying insects to a minimum without compromising the security of the place.
We trust that you will be back again to enjoy the facilities at Woodlands Stop Over & Lodge?
Kind regards,
Mike & Anne West (Owners)
If we were to try and irridicate the insects the birds would be at huge risk of eating the poison that killed the insects and so the vicious circle would continue.
We co-exist with and in nature and it will all settle down when the rains return and nature is satisfied again.

We stayed over for a night during our travels through Botswana. WOW campsites clean, ablution clean, showers amazing, the best the peace and quiet and also the swimming pool. When we arrived the staff nice and friendly, showed us to the camp site. We set up and had the most amazing evening just the family.

3rd stay here since 2017, very pleased to say the standards have not deteriorated like other places we have re visited. Friendly staff, excellent cleanliness within the Riverside chalets, very comfortable and tranquil, even the dirt track from the main road is maintained and relatively smooth. Beautiful bird song from 5am and a walk along the riverbed before breakfast is a must, friendly owners, would highly recommend a stay here

Good day Mabuledi,
Thank you so much for your very high rating and lovely review of us here at Woodlands Stop Over & Lodge.
Another thanks for your regular support and thrilled to hear that you highly recommend other travellers stay with us. Your recognition of our friendly staff who work hard in all areas of the business maintaining the standards which we have set for ourselves and to which we will continue to strive for as a matter of priority is much appreciated. Work is continually done on the main access road in an attempt to keep it relatively smooth. As we await the rains (November) we hear the call from all the birds as they too await the arrival of the precious rain. The Woodland Kingfisher HAS just ARRIVED this week, to breed and then return in April/May next year -- so we are enjoying it's beautiful call now. We are named after this migrant bird!
We so look forward to your future visits and trust that you had a wonderful trip through our beautiful Botswana?
Kind regards,
Mike & Anne West (Mrs)

Woodlands Stop Over is a gem in Botswana. Mike & Anne did a most magnificent job of providing an excellent escape for anyone from the busy road to the constant ringing of phones and blaring of a TV. I really appreciate the furnishing, the friendliness, cleanliness, upkeep and tranquility found at Woodlands. I will always be back.

A wonderful oasis for business or a break on your travels to the north of Botswana. River chalets a well recommended for either. The bird life is amazing and worth the walk along the River bank or bird walk.
