This place wants to be the best, and the attitude shown by the management team and staff has all the right attributes to help them become just that.

On the first night of our 2 night stay in the hotel, we ate in La Rosa restaurant. Starters were very good and we had a nice bottle of old vines wine from El Esteco. My main course (steak) was fine, though not special, but my wife’s pasta main was not good. The dish was absolutely loaded with double cream (which wasn’t even listed as an ingredient in the description) and the beef strips were very tough (over-cooked).

We still enjoyed our evening though and given we’d already had starters and weren’t super-hungry we had enough food by eating all of mine and some of her dish. We mentioned this at the end (they noticed that not much of the pasta had been consumed) and I was extremely impressed with how it was handled. Firstly an apology from the waiter, and then the same from the manager, who came over to our table. She noted the issue for feedback to the kitchen and said that they would not charge for the dish. Very professionally handled and problem solved. We left happy.

The next day, after returning from a morning of wine tasting, we found a bottle of cabernet sauvignon waiting for us in our room with a note apologising (again) for the poor pasta dish. The ‘problem’, such as it was, had already been solved to our satisfaction the night before. So this was really above and beyond. We appreciate the kind gesture and would like to note how well this reflects on all of the restaurant staff.

This is the kind of service that you only get from a truly high-class establishment and one that cares about its customers.

I stayed here for one night only. This is a fantastic hotel and restaurant in the middle of the Vineyard. Nice garden with pool. The views are overwhelming. The trip from Salta to Cafayate is long but the scenery is great. The restaurant serves very good food on a nice terrace in the garden. The crispy sweetbread was too. The wine list is extensive and very affordable. I had a very nice Malbec.

During our recent, 10-day tour of the region, we stayed at several nice hotels and ate at multipl restaurnats. Clearly, La Rosa was the best. Service is quiet, efficient and helpful. The food selection is excellent and dishes are carefully prepared and presented. Portions are just right. The wine selection is also excellent and served with expertise. The place is best for dinner. Breakfasts and lunches are somewhat mor elimited.

Went for lunch as a walk in customer. Not a guest at the hotel. The food and wine was good although expensive. However the overall experience was very unpleasant due to the rudeness of the head waiter. As soon as I walked in he was unwelcoming and had a sneering expression on his face. For some reason he simply took a dislike to me. He was attentive to the point of being obsequious to the other customers there. When I asked for the bill he didn't even deign to face me when he presented the bill. He had his back turned to me. I never received my change either and was too fed up at that point to make a fuss. I just wanted out of there.

My guess is that he didin't want an ordinary foreign tourist like me there. The other customers seemed to be wealthy Argentinians and/or guests at the attached hotel. I have noticed that it seems painful to some snooty Argentinians that foreign tourists can afford fairly easily to patronise upmarket places and it seems to put their noses out of joint. Maybe that is why I was treated so rudely. A pity as the food was good. Hope others have better luck with the service.

Estimado Tim,

We had lunch at the poolside restaurant with a view of the mountains and corral. Everything was perfect, starting with the walk through the garden and hotel, the reception and escort to the restaurant, and our welcome in the restaurant. Service was attentive and knowledgeable. I know we are in wine country but on a whim we ordered pisco sours and they were excellent. The menu is small with many vegetarian options (I mention this because I am vegetarian). Definitely recommend this restaurant, as friends had recommended it to us. Enjoy.
