This place wants to be the best, and the attitude shown by the management team and staff has all the right attributes to help them become just that.
On the first night of our 2 night stay in the hotel, we ate in La Rosa restaurant. Starters were very good and we had a nice bottle of old vines wine from El Esteco. My main course (steak) was fine, though not special, but my wife’s pasta main was not good. The dish was absolutely loaded with double cream (which wasn’t even listed as an ingredient in the description) and the beef strips were very tough (over-cooked).
We still enjoyed our evening though and given we’d already had starters and weren’t super-hungry we had enough food by eating all of mine and some of her dish. We mentioned this at the end (they noticed that not much of the pasta had been consumed) and I was extremely impressed with how it was handled. Firstly an apology from the waiter, and then the same from the manager, who came over to our table. She noted the issue for feedback to the kitchen and said that they would not charge for the dish. Very professionally handled and problem solved. We left happy.
The next day, after returning from a morning of wine tasting, we found a bottle of cabernet sauvignon waiting for us in our room with a note apologising (again) for the poor pasta dish. The ‘problem’, such as it was, had already been solved to our satisfaction the night before. So this was really above and beyond. We appreciate the kind gesture and would like to note how well this reflects on all of the restaurant staff.
This is the kind of service that you only get from a truly high-class establishment and one that cares about its customers.
