Scenery is great, but without a 4x4 you can only drive on the one tar road running through the park. The worst sand/gravel roads I've seen. I would have expected the office or gate to inform visitors of the dangerous sand roads which are an obstacle course not to be traversed by a sedan motor vehicle.

Not the parks fault, but this time of the year the bush is very, very thick so unless an animal is on the road you will struggle to see any animals. I recommend a stay of 2 nights and one day. That's more than enough time to see the entire park.

Visited this game park on an overcast, at limes misty day, which resulted in us only seeing a few animals. This included a large male elephant, a rhino with a baby several types of buck, and a few zebra. Stopped at Hilltop for a morning cappuccino, which was not that great. The park was very quiet after only being recently been opened since lockdown. Despite the weather, we enjoyed this experience.

My wife and I are very keen on game reserves and, having visited Imfolosi, several times, decided to return to Hluhluwe, which was a serious mistake. We were warmly greeted at Reception, but our chalet was disappointing. The toilet leaked water over the floor. Fortunately, I had the morning newspaper which we could spread around the toilet base. We were give 1/2 a roll of toilet paper for 2 people for 4 days. The handle switching from shower to bath did not work. On reporting this my wife was told, churlishly, that as there was so much wrong, perhaps we should move. We did not wish to pack up clothes, drinks and food and just wanted the problems to be rectified. We were given a roll of toilet paper, but nothing else was fixed. On checking out, the same churlish woman showed no interest and did not have the courtesy to ask if we had enjoyed our stay, probably because she knew the answer!. We will not return.TonyC

We always go early in the morning, so we were the first car into the gate. We found two buffaloes in the road and straight thereafter two rhinos close to the road. On the second day we witnessed two elephants so close to our car, peacefully grazing. The landscape is beautiful.
