Jao is a very luxurious camp. The decoration is incredible and the tents magnificent.
The view from the rooms are stunning.
The game viewing was disappointing as there was not much game to see around. We have been able to go to another concession for the day, where the game was plentiful though.

Dear Richard,

Thank you for your wonderful review, we are delighted to see how much you enjoyed your stay with us. Wildlife viewing throughout the Jao concession is good all year round, but each season has its own nuance and special charm – there simply is not one ‘perfect time’ to visit. As the flood waters begin to recede so the animals start to travel further for their needed nourishment. It is for this reason that we often share the wonder of Hunda Island, which even though home to our sister camp and right "next door" offers a wonderfully contrasting view of the beautiful Okavango Delta; offering our guests the best of both worlds.

Thank you again

The main area has the feel of a very big tree house, there are all kinds of intresting nooks and cranies that would make a kid feel like they are in a scene from the 'Jungle book' - All amenities are built with adults in mind... Beautiful rooms, with beautiful veiws, attentive staff....

Not a lodge you want to visit if you have any mobility issues, You are going to have to navigate the boardwalk and stairs. Wifi access is limited - dont go here if you are going to have issues being disconnected....

Room Tip: The smaller the room number the further away from the main area you will be.

This was the third camp we stayed in on our journey through Botswana. It was probably number one on our list among kings pool and Duba plains, both of which were amazing. First the food at jao is truly amazing. From the abundant flavors to the gluten free options everyone ate themselves into oblivion. Sunset cocktails in the delta, lunch in a tree house overlooking elephants ... there really was no end to the amazing food. The lodging was very nice. The best was probably duba but it was close. Finally the game viewing here was fantastic. We saw everything except rhinos including multiple leopards. But the incredible thing is the variety of game "drives" including dug out canoes, speed boats and of course open air keeps. Finally the Tiger fishing was awesome. Great service great guides great everything. Top of the line place.

Dear Mng89,

Thank you for the great review, we are thrilled to see how much you enjoyed your stay with us and will be sure to pass on your high praises to all our hard workers in the kitchen. Fishing is great this time of year and camp does offer a limited supply of basic equipment (spinner rods and a small range of lures) and is on a catch-and-release basis.

Thank you again

We traveled to Jao Camp August 2016. It was the beginning of our trip and it was stunning. The wildlife sights were incredible and the people at the camp were even more incredible. They did everything to make our trip enjoyable and worth every penny! The guides were knowledgeable and fun, the camp management and other staff were so thoughtful, the food was excellently prepared (so much of it!) and the accommodations were idyllic. Can't wait to go back.

The people who work at this camp are lovely. Marina gave me an amazing massage and I enjoyed talking to her. Jonny was our guide and he was eager to show us the land and animals that he loves. Some found Jacques, one of the temporary managers to be brusque, but I found him to be connected, smart and funny. Nadia is a warm and thoughtful manager.
