All the staff at Jao Camp were very friendly and welcoming, and our guide, M.D., was truly exceptional! We loved our safari drives with him and were spoiled with plentiful wildlife everywhere, including seeing three leopards. The lodge and the rooms were beautifully harmonised with nature and the wooden bridges were an incredible way of getting around. The spa ladies gave great massages, as well.

If you are looking for beautiful accommodations, amazing service and wonderful food this is the camp for you. The tents are beautifully decorated and very spacious with indoor and outdoor sitting areas and showers. The food and service was top notch and don't miss the spa for an amazing massage.
We spotted leopard, lions, and zebra on our first day out and the following days were just as fantastic. Jao exceeded our expectations and we can't wait to come back on our next visit.

Of all the places that we stayed on our trip, this was definitely the most luxurious. The "tents" were bigger than my apartment in London and more luxuriously appointed with 2 showers (indoor and outdoor) and a beautiful bath. The people were seriously attentive, the food amazing and the surroundings beautiful. I would specifically recommend this location during peak wet season when there are more water activities.

Room Tip: No bad rooms.

My wife and I spent 4 nights in Jao camp last October.
We have been in many safari camps in Botswana, Kenya, South Africa and Tanzania, last 10 years; this was by far the most spectacular camp we have experienced so far in the Delta and maybe in the entire southeast Africa.
Been myself a wild life photographer, the beauty of the lodging location and the wildlife peacefully grazing in front of it overwhelmed me. Jao Camp has succeeded by his special architecture, his surrounding, and the unique atmosphere to spread on you the pristine beauty of the Okavango delta.
I remember spending endless moments at our private terrace watching lechwe- antelopes, elephants, buffalos, and many birds feeding in the beautiful light of the morning mist. Wildlife here is so rich that it would be impossible to note all we have seen just some special moment, leopard with cubs frequently seen not far from the camp, 2 male lions walking side to side and followed them on evening light, a male lion with 2 females very special behavior, and incredible water birds life in the delta. Our trips were well balanced between land and water, our guide Jakes was extremely knowledgeable and we appreciate particularly his private and gentle way of interaction. His skills on animal behavior and his promptness to place our vehicle or our boat in front of the action was remarkable. The mokoro trip gave us the taste how to experience slow motion delta wildlife details and admiring this unique landscape. This camp is ran on high professional standard, Newman as a GM, has careful eyes from the right distance, all the staff contribute all day long to create this special moment you’ll never forget.
Beauty is often described as right time, place, action, silence, light, special, wild, setting, lush, ….. Jao enclose all this!
A big thanks to all of you, we will certainly come again maybe with more water to see another side of Joao.

Regards Rossano and Anita

From the moment you land on the small landing strip you are transported to a fabulous camp
A quick flyover by the pilot to ensure no animals on the landing area, pick up by your personal guide, the wooden bridge approach to the camp which is virtually invisible in the treeline and then the welcome by the staff in beautiful African song---just fantastic

The staff were wonderful, Kaiser our guide,a font of knowledge and great fun.

The food in the lodge was varied and high quality and the sundowners each evening were varied and a brilliant end to the day.

The accommodation "in the trees" was exceptional.

We were there in "dry season" but both the waterway trips and the game drives were equally good.

Just hope we can return one day, felt like we were leaving family at the end of the trip

Room Tip: each room is accessed of an elevated walkway. Animals [apart from elephants] can roam freely through...
