Loved this quaint cottage in Fishguard. There were two of us and it was loads of space. We were there in winter - and a welsh winter is wet and cold! The cottage has a fireplace and heaters so you can warm it up, and snuggle up on the sofa in front of the fire while the rain comes down outside. When the weather is good, there’s a lovely garden with a table and chairs. The location is amazing. A v short walk to the harbour, where you can watch the boats bob on the water, feed the ducks etc. We drove short distances to the surrounding bays to go swimming (cold but wonderful!) and did lots of walks on Dinas Island, which is a nearby peninsula (not an island!) with absolutely stunning views.
In terms of the cottage amenities, we had no problems with anything. Heaters worked - there’s no central heating (common in that part of the world and in such an old property) but the heaters were plentiful and did their job. The shower was always hot, and the kitchen had everything we needed to cook all our meals. Comfy beds, and in general a lovely old cottage. Would love to go back :-)
Delightful cottage with gorgeous garden. We had a great time in Fishguard, such a magical place with really friendly folk. Everything we needed was provided at the cottage. Adise building a fire in the eve as it can get cold. Really would like to return one day.
The owners of this cottage need to realize that if you are renting out a property at roughly 100 pounds per day, that this type of money suggest that it is at least a 4 star rental and that the customer would expect no problems.
When we arrived on the 24th the first thing that amazed us was the smell of damp furnishing, there is one night storage heater in the front room, but this is not good enough to heat the whole front room let alone the cottage, so we then went around to turn the free standing heaters, when we did they all smelt of burning.
On then checking the cottage we found no inventary of the fittings and no record to show the electric readings,
The cottage was not clean we found cob webs everywhere in the cupboards and shower room and behind the furniture was also not clean.
We found no iron or hair dryer, which after phoning the agents was sorted, but this should not have happened in the first place.
I fully understand that this is a very old cottage and that damp proofing was not around in those days, but like I have already stated if your paying that type of money then you expect warmth, If I would have liked a damp and draft place then I would have asked for one.
Also on the 24th we had to go shopping as the place had no welcome pack or fuel for the fire.
The owner needs to spend some money on this place renew the draft curtains so that they cover the door ways, organize the cupboards, as we found tins of paint in with the cooking pots and pans.
A very very disapointing holiday which we had looked forward to for some time and this was all down to the rental.
