The stayed here about 10 years ago. I gave the owner a little china tortoise as a gift. Christina the owner is a marvellous host. The cottage is amazing. The gardens are out of this world. There is a lake too. I was able to take my dog which is a bonus. This place is heaven on earth.

My partner and I chose this cottage as it was in the middle of a National Trust garden and looked peaceful and pretty. The cottage itself is compact but very well equipped and has everything you need - the kitchen was particularly nice. The bedroom is accessed by a counter-weighted ladder stair up to a cosy balcony - be careful not to bang your head on the beams. The bed is SUPER comfortable, and it is so quiet and dark we slept like logs. There is no tv and the wifi is a bit hit and miss but that was part of the charm, a total break from reality. We spent the evenings in front of the log burning stove playing games and reading and listening to music and it was completely relaxing. Highlights for me were access to the owners library which was well stocked and comfortable, a daily visit from a very cheeky robin, who ate crumbs out of my hand and came actually into the kitchen when he felt he wasn't getting enough attention, and the wonderful, peaceful beauty of the garden and the surrounding hills. There is lots to do locally, we concentrated on walks along the Pembrokeshire Coastal Paths and looking at the stunning scenery, but there are so many outdoor activities and nice little towns to visit that you will not be at a loss for ways to spend your time. It is many years since I had been to Pembrokeshire and it is just as beautiful as I remember.

“Cosy cottage set in heart of stunning 6 acre garden”

We have stayed in many beautiful cottages but the peace and tranquillity of Y Bwthyn Bach is unrivalled. The hosts made us feel so welcome and gave us the freedom to walk throughout the gardens and use their library at any time. The cottage is well equipped, warm and cosy. The mezzanine sleeping area is accessed by a wonderful counter-weighted ladder that conveniently swings up and down into the living area. The bed area has a low ceiling which may not be suitable for everyone. We will have lasting memories of the dawn chorus and fragrant flowers surrounding the cottage and hope to return in other seasons to enjoy the changing character of the gardens.

“Great retreat, small and cozy, would recommend to anyone”
Reviewed 14 June 2016 for a stay in March 2016

We've had lovely weather explored new places and ended our visit feeling reinvigorated. The cottage is compact, but has everything you need, and we had such fun playing board games and walking along the coast. The Robin that visited us each day was lovely, and enjoyed using the open fire.
Thank you so much,
Karl, Sarah Marcel and Oli
