“Recent stay at Gungutter House... great location”

Closest I have ever been to a brilliant pub - The Cod & Lobster, most time it would take to get there is about 30 seconds, or a minute if you stop at look at the harbour!
The bed in the cottage were so comfortable, the best I have slept in for a long time,,
It is a pain not being able to park down in the village, but we put our car in the car park at Glenvale which has CCTV, so we didn't worry about it...and it was only a 10 minute walk up to the car park...
The weather was gorgeous as well, so all in all would definitely recommend the cottage and Staithes...

“Lovely Hideaway in a Timewarp”

Staithes, in my humble opinion, is one of the most special places in the country. One of the few places left in England where you can shut yourself off from the entire world. No TV, no mobile phones, just peace and quiet. There's a lovely coal fire and cosy living room where you can while away the hours whilst you hear the sea crash against the seawall.

To get here you need to walk into the old village, where James Cook himself once worked. The cottage is tucked away in a snickleway (sorry i'm from York) about 20 meters from a really good pub: the Cod and Lobster.

The harbour is a stones throw away, and theres a lovely short walk onto the beach or seawall.

Staithes is timeless place, almost mythical in nature. Here you can feel the echoes of time past and a simple yet beautiful life. You can come here and feel like the world is an okay place, that everything is okay. The North Yorkshire coast is one of the world's most beautiful treasures, and should be kept a secret, because it is in it's innate peace that one can find inner peace, even just for a little while....something that is difficult in this world of ours.

“fantastic stay”

As we had not been to the property before, the owners asked us to meet them at their tea rooms in Port Mulgrave and they would take us down to the cottage. Tom took us down and showed us around. The cottage was even better than the pictures we saw, it as a beautiful little cottage, bed was very comfy, even though there isn't a wardrobe there are pegs on the wall with coat hangers ( you need to bring a trousers hanger as there isn't one) the living room has a real coal fire which we would have loved to light, but it was too warm to try out. This adds to the charm of the cottage. The kitchen is well equipped short of nothing, I liked the old kitchen cabinet and tins which reminded me of my grandparents house. They left us a bottle of wine as a welcome gift which was really nice and it tasted good too.
The property is about 1 minute from the harbour and the Cod and Lobster pub, they do
very nice meals. wIth a nice little beach. There is no parking in the village but you can drive down into the village unload them drive back up, there are 2 car parks where you can pay daily or you can pay for the private car park which has CCTV cameras so you will know your car will be safe. If you need any shopping you have to go to the CO-OP up on the main road as there are no shops in the village for food other than the butchers.
Staithes is a lovely little village. We enjoyed our stay in the cottage and would love to go back again it was a shame to come home!!.
