Just had an amazing Sunday lunch.
Panko prawns to start, lovely juicy prawns in a light breadcrumb, roast beef to follow with cabbage, broccoli, green beans, carrots parsnips and roast potatoes cooked to perfection.............then treacle tart to die for.
I can't recommend highly enough, excellent good value food.

Visited The Royal George with a guest for Sunday lunch this week.
The Pub and restaurant are now well and truly revamped to a really good standard.
The furnishings and decor have been thoughtfully and wisely chosen and create a really welcoming ambience.
All three of us had a truly delicious and plentiful Sunday lunch. We really could not fault any one of our choices selected over the three courses ! Really nicely cooked and you can tell the ingredients are well sourced. The vegetables that accompanied our chosen roasts were plentiful and perfectly cooked.
The staff are very friendly and appropriately attentive and this all adds to what was a very pleasing dining experience.
It will not be long before we return !

My partner and I went for Sunday Lunch a couple of weeks ago - what a great find! Very friendly service, tasty food, good portions and fantastic value - three courses, two pints, two G & Ts for just over £50. Good selection of fresh veg and all food properly seasoned. Nice terrace outside if weather good, family friendly. Just watch your head going down steps to restaurant - I saw the sign and still hit it! You can also eat in the bar which would be accessible for wheelchairs. We will be returning for lunch and also for an evening meal.

Thanks for your review we are happy you enjoyed your visit and hope to see you soon.
The part of the building you hit your head on was erected in 1262 and has the oldest beams in the country holding up the roof.
Thanks Kevin

Popped in here last night as I'd heard such good reviews . Wasn't disappointed at all both had two courses which were very well presented and very tasty . I had chicken liver pate and hubby had prawn cocktail for starters and chicken pie served with chips and peas for main , hubby had crispy beef served with a bed of rice which he thoroughly enjoyed . I would've had dessert as they looked amazing but I couldn't possibly eat anymore . Very reasonably priced with superb customer service in a beautiful village location we will without a doubt return .

We've lived a couple of miles from the Royal George for 20 years but it took a gas leak at home to get us inside for dinner.

We wish we'd had the leak earlier as our delicious meal meant we had been missing out for too long.

Without a gas cooker to prepare our evening meal we booked a table at the Royal George without any idea of the friendly greetings and good food we were to enjoy at very reasonable prices.

Tempting starters included a lovely homemade Scotch egg and our mains of pollock in (trendy) panko breadcrumbs and sea bream with a tasty fennel and leek gratin were spot on.

We were too full for pudding but will make sure to leave room on our next visit - and we won't wait two decades this time, or need a gas leak.

The Royal George is tucked away in a lane in Cottingham but there's parking on site when you find it. You might be surprised at the way this apparently small pub with grub expands inside, with several areas to eat in and a decking terrace when the sun shines.
