“Excellent find and lovely accommodation”

We stayed at the Swallows Rest for 4 days when visiting the area for a wedding. We were a party of 5 and the accommodation suited us perfectly. The building is very nicely renovated, seems brand new and all of the fixtures and fittings are of a very high quality. We were a party of 2 couples and a 1 additional guest and the sofa bed is a double futon which is in the main kitchen/ living area. This was more than fine for us but won't suit everyone. The owners were very helpful and the setting is beautiful. I would say that the location definitely requires own transport and the road to the nearest village is quite hilly and would be a challenge to walk. The local pub the Hog is fantastic, the food was excellent and a step above normal pub fare.

“Brilliant stay - very comfortable.”

We stayed at Swallow's rest whilst visiting friends who live nearby. It is a very newly converted barn, set in beautiful countryside and is super clean and comfortable, with every facility that you require for a stay away from home. We received a warm and friendly welcome from the owners and look forward to returning again sometime.

“Beautiful Barn Conversion”
Reviewed 17 April 2015 for a stay in April 2015

Swallows Rest is a beautiful barn conversion near to the village of Horsley and town of Nailsworth. On arrival we were greeted by one of the owners Jeannie with a tray of tea, coffee & cake, which was very much needed and appreciated after a long journey. Both Jeannie and Brian were very welcoming and accommodating, they made us feel very much at home.

Swallows rest is situated on a working farm. Our little boy loved to see Brian driving his tractor and our daughter really enjoyed helping Brian and Jeannie feed the small animals, two goats, a baby lamb and some chickens.

The barn itself has been beautifully converted, it has an open plan kitchen diner & seating area, two bedrooms (a double & a twin) and a large bathroom. It was really well equipped to meet all of our needs. There was also a utility room with a washing machine & dryer.

The outside space is lovely, there is a lit patio area and a huge drive that is safely fenced in, this was the perfect playing area for the children and our dog. To the side of the barn there is a huge paddock that the children were also allowed to play in. When we arrived we realised that we'd forgotten the children's outdoor toys, Jeannie very kindly let them borrow her grandchildren's.

The local area is beautiful, there are footpaths everywhere if you like to walk, the local pub, The Hog, is a ten minute walk, the food is fantastic and the landlady is really nice. Nailsworth is a beautiful little town, with loads of independent shops, cafes, restaurants and pubs.

We hope to return to the area very soon.

Wow what an idyllic setting & peaceful place, ideal for walking & sightseeing in local area.
We were greeted by the ever so helpful owners who gave us all the local knowledge for our stay. The rooms (building) are brand new & big open living areas so no complaints at all.
Nailsworth just down the road for plenty of restaurant's & shops. We enjoyed our few days stay & will hopefully be back soon.
