A very interesting visit to this Fort. The staff are very knowledgeable and very enthusiastic about this wonderfully restored fort. They made time to talk and explain different artifacts and about the canons. Very reasonably priced entrance fee. A fantastic place which should what 'people power' can achieve to restore our history

Came to Harwich for a weekend with my husband without the kids!
Visited here to see if it was open and I’m glad they were!
Admission was only £3 too which is brilliant!
The lady at the desk was lovey and very helpful. Was happy giving up her time to talk to us. Other members of staff were happy to talk to us too.
Went round and it’s a Very interesting place, full of stuff to look at.
We will return soon with the children as they will enjoy it here too!
Thank you!!

Interesting history, including the restoration work done by volunteers in the ‘70s. A good example of what can be achieved with local enthusiasm, and today’s friendly volunteer staff added to our enjoyment. The displays in the lower rooms could be improved- too much stuff and not enough of a story. Each room could tell a different short story using clear boards and edited items, but I know this all takes time and money. But still good value for money and worth a visit.

For only £3 each we gained entry to this wonderful place which had a real feel of history to it. Restoration has been on going over quite a few years by an army of volunteers - everyone gives their time free no matter how they help and all are to be commended - it’s an interesting place to visit with a video show of the restoration process available to view. It’s ongoing so if I find myself in this lovely place again I would return.

Lovely place to walk around, it was very peaceful and surrounding scenery was gorgeous. The staff where very kind a lovely chap who was painting had a break to tell us more about the machinery and we was given a discount for arriving close to closing time which was nice of them but we put the full price in the donation box anyway, £3 is nothing! It has been looked after and all the different rooms have fascinating little bits in them. The nearby lighthouse and fish and chip shop were great too!
