A last minute opportunity to have a few days away and we stumbled across Stable #2 at Woodstock Farm near Wereham in Norfolk. A warm welcome from proprietor Jackie who was discreet yet always on hand to help answer any questions.
The holiday home was one of 2 beautiful stable conversions with everything one could wish for at hand. The interior was tastefully decorated with brick feature walls, a comfortable 4 poster bed, and a well equipped kitchen. There were even two cream scones left in the fridge for us to enjoy at our leisure along with a courtesy basket of tea and coffee which was a pleasant surprise.
The grounds of the farm were extensive and included a fishing lake, woodland walk of around 15minutes, as well as several caravan pitches. A 10 minute drive took us to a recommended pub called The Hare Arms in Stow Bardolph which served excellent food and was full of character - well worth a visit.
One small criticism - the noise of the military jets flying over us on a regular basis with RAF Marham being just up the road. In addition, Wereham is right on the western edge of Norfolk and it took about an hour to get to Norwich which needs to be borne in mind if one wants to spend a day on the Broads.
Having said this we thoroughly enjoyed our stay and would not hesitate to recommend Stable No 2 to couples who like a quiet, cosy, country feel to their accommodation.
