W.e booked this apartment through 'Owner's Direct' website and the whole process was very straightforward. Lola, the apartment owner contacted me with details of how to collect keys etc... It was in Spanish, but this wasn't a problem as it was easily translated.
On arrival we were taken upstairs by a young woman who showed us the apartment, gave us the keys and told us if we needed anything at all to go down the the bottom apartment (where the owner lives).
The apartment had everything that was needed for our stay. Kitchen facilities included a microwave, hob, small oven, toaster, full size fridge freezer and washing machine. The only item we found missing was 'mugs', but we embraced the Spanish way and drank our hot drinks from a glass!
The previous review mentions the creaky bed... This was definitely the only real negative point that I can make about the apartment. The creaking was unbelievable and is something that the owners could do to rectify.
Unlike the previous review, we did not find the apartment to be dirty. The bed linen was basic and not what we would choose, but it was clean. We had a washing machine, so washed our towels and dried on the balcony. Clean bedding was left outside our door at the end of the first week. This is not a serviced apartment, so we did not expect or want someone to come in and change towels or bedding.
The balcony is small but fine for 2 people. We had the sun from about 11 am each morning and by early afternoon it is a real sun trap!
The apartment is in a fantastic location on Calle Granada, which is only 5 minutes walk into the heart of town. There are 2 supermarkets - Mercadona and Supersol in easy walking distance and a smaller local shop a couple of doors up from the apartment. There are also 2 clothes shops and a couple of small bars on the same stretch as the apartment.
You need to be fairly fit to stay here as the apartment is 3rd floor with approximately 40 stairs to climb.
We felt that the owners could improve the experience for holiday makers by providing a leaflet with basic information such as what to do with the rubbish! We discovered(through a friend) that you take your rubbish out in a bag and leave on the street each night between 10-12 at night. Also, we weren't sure what to do with our keys on the last day. We left a note (in Spanish) under the owners door and she sent us one back explaining that we could leave them on the table. These are only small issues, but would have made our stay a little better.
Overall, this is a great apartment, fantastic value for the location and I would definitely stay here again (even with the squeaky bed!).
We arrived to find dust and dirt everywhere. The main bed was an antiquated fold up thing that creaked continuously and as for the bed linen it was appalling old jaded and manky looking it was so bad I went and bought new sheets. I spent the first evening cleaning and even the sweeping brush and floor mop were filthy.
Our 'host' never once came to change the towels or empty the bins in 8 days! The wifi only worked occasionally and as for the English Tvchannels they did not exist. In one word an over priced dive that never gets sunshine. The only thing going for this place was the location.
