We stopped here for one night on our way to Geiranger. First of all, this hotel is situated in just about the prettiest setting possible for a hotel, facing a river just as it turns into fjord, with beautiful mountains behind it. It’s worth paying more for a view here. Our room had plenty of room and decent storage. There were no extras like a safe, fridge, Kleenex, bathmat… The eco-friendly soap/shampoo dispensers were a real plus, in my opinion. Overall it was basic and plain but clean, perfect for a stopover.
Rooms come with both dinner and breakfast here. The dinner is not great, but it’s free, and in general the cold items were pretty good. Note that you’re assigned a table at dinner, and that’s also your table for breakfast the next morning. The restaurant had a ‘no bags’ sign posted, so I guess they’ve had trouble with customers taking food away. I wasn’t able to figure out if they meant just backpacks or possibly all handbags, but it would definitely be easier to leave my purse behind if there was a safe in our room.
Overall I liked this hotel for the beautiful setting, friendly staff, and comfortable room.More
