We stayed only one night at the Selfoss Hotel on our trip around Iceland.
This hotel is not really modern but i have to say i felt very comfortable there. The room has everything you need, is clean and quiet. The breakfast is included and the price for Iceland ok. We also had dinner in the restaurant which was good. Stuff is very friendly.
I would definitely recommend Hotel Selfoss and Spa if you search a nice accomodation for a good price!

Very good, clean Hotel. Ask for a room overlooking the river and you can see the mountains as well. Our room was large and bathroom has a heated floor. Much appreciated after a cold rainy day. The breakfast buffet was good! Would stay there again.

Other Resteruants with in a block along with a grocery store across the street from Hotel.

My wife, son and I took a tour of "all the sites" in Iceland. The hotel is closer to the action than staying in Reykjavik. The room was a decent size even for the three beds. It was functional and the front desk loaned us a converter. Breakfast was standard, but fresh. and the view of the river and mountain is great. I did see a streak of the Northern Lights. There is a movie theater, and ice cream next to the hotel.

Check-in was extremely easy. The breakfast foods were typical European with lean meats/cheeses/Yogurt/breads/vegetables. They did have the traditional pork and beans, scrambled eggs, and sausage. Group supper was excellent, the room were great, and we got to see the Northern Lights the first night outside our hotel entrance. You could tell the staff wasn't just putting on airs and were well mannered and kind.

Room tip: "Rooms on the North side face the glacier fed river and the bridge"
