We stayed at Snaefoksstadir cottage near Selfoss. We had a beautiful view of the lake and mountains. We traveled as Far East as Vik and also had easy access to the Golden Circle and Reykjavík. We used the hot tub every evening. It was lovely!
There were 3 bedrooms 2 were small but very comfortable. The owner Kristinn Karl was easy to reach ( we texted with What’s App) and got back to us immediately if we had a question. He left a book with suggestions for some more local adventures including lunch at a tomato farm which was fabulous and a great hike in Reykjadalur. Go prepared for wind rain snow and some sun. You will need rainproof clothing. Iceland is very expensive. We had dinner at home using a very nice gas grill and 2 burner indoor stove. Relaxed by the fire and just enjoyed the home and the view!
WE WERE A GROUP OF 5 FRIENDS AND WANTED TO HAVE A NICE AND CALM PLACE TO STAY.
KRISTINN'S HOUSE WAS PERFECT: surrounded by nature and perfectly tidy and clean. Very closed to the Golden Circle attractions, I would suggest a 2 days stay
We stayed here 2 nights at the end of our 9 day trip to Iceland. If we knew how lovely this cabin was going to be we would have booked for longer. Its a great location for many day trips. Its nestled in the trees overlooking a lake. Its very quiet and private and relaxing yet not far from town and scenery. There were only two of us staying but plenty of room to come back with family and friends. The view of the stars and northern lights from the hot tub was great. Kristinn was a good host. We arrived late and his instructions and guide book very easy to understand and appreciated. We left wishing we had spent more time at Kristinn’s home. Thanks for the hospitality and great recommendations!
