My work brought me to Kathmandu and I ended up staying 3 months at The Summit. I love the traditional Newari architecture, views of the Himals, and outdoor patios surrounded by gardens. The food and service are excellent. They have a cozy lounge with several couches and a fireplace, where you can gather with friends or colleagues for drinks or an expresso. Other features include decent Internet access, comfortable beds, nice bathrooms, and good lighting in the rooms.

Room tip: Ask for a room on the Himal side.

away from the bustle of the city traffic with its non-stop honking, people masses, street vendors and all the sounds of the busy street bustle is the Summit Hotel is an oasis of tranquility set in a beautiful garden with idyllic spots, large and smaller terraces where you can isolate and a beautiful pool where you can sunbathe undisturbed. The restaurant is very good as well. The restaurant serves great food, the service is wonderful, and staff speak great English. Everyone was very nice and helpful. I think the standard rooms have better value.

Hotel seemed to be hosting multiple conferences when we visited.

Is perched slightly above the main city of Khatmandu so is arguably less noisy and dusty but hardly worth staying here if you are only visiting for a few days. They have apartments for longer stays.

The food is average and the waiters although jovial and courteous do seem to find it a bit of a struggle - even when it is not that busy. Kitchen is also very slow even by Nepalese standards.

Not one for a repeat visit.

Stayed in the nicest part of the hotel for one night. It is situated on the outskirts of town bout 30 min from the airport. I had booked pick up at airport and was given an early check in and enjoyed breakfast. The hotel is frequented by UN staff and is in a pleasant neighbourhood good for exploring. The hotel gardens are also very nice as was breakfast and overall staff service. The only thing not quite up to the overall standards was the Internet with was patchy.
Room spacious and good heating which made the sleep even better.
I forgot my fancy sun glasses and when I contacted the hotel after leaving for Birgunj, they answered rapidly ensuring me they were well taken care of.
So I decided to instead of hanging out at the airport when coming back from Birgunj to go to the Summit and hang out in their pleasant garden (and pick up my glasses) and booked a pick up from (and later return to) the airport with them and had a very pleasant day.

Room tip: choose the slightly more expensive rooms and enjoy the view of the garden

Away from the hubbub of central Kathmandu, yet still so close. Super friendly staff, good rooms, wonderful view across the valley. Second time staying (on business), and still looking to come back. The restaurant is pretty good as well.
