Did not get a chance to write a review before so its a little late. I booked everything online chose to do the package that they offer. It was such a smooth process we made a lot of changes and they worked with us. The only thing is they did charge the wrong card but it might have been due to all the changes we did and providing them with different cards both times. The rooms are well kept. It was 3 girls on this trip this hotel is more of a family hotel so it was pretty quiet but we had so much planned that we still had an amazing time. Once we forgot our phone in a cab and they called the driver back right away. The breakfast was good every day the only I wish they would have a little more options on the menu but the food was good. We had dinner there almost every night and lunch a couple of times so maybe we just went through everything on the menu lol. The staff was always friendly and willing to help. I would def. stay again so close to the beach and the town just a short walk away. Super safe area. I loved that they offer a package deal. 3 meals a day included plus transportation to and from the activity it was just smooth sailing.

I can be quite picky about places I stay- the Villas Rio Mar was PERFECT. The rooms are bungalows surrounded by beautiful well kept gardens with wonderful smelling flowers, beautiful birds, toucans, iguanas & the occasional monkey. It's in the perfect location along the river, just far enough away from the main street of Dominical to have total peace & quite but close enough to easily walk to all the restaurants & perfect surfing beaches. The room was very clean with new paint & new furniture. The room was quite, our king bed was comfortable, the air conditioning worked great, clean bathrooms, big showers with perfect water pressure. The patio had a fridge, sink and mosquito netting to help keep bugs out. Wonderful big pool at the perfect temperature. The staff were very trustworthy, and absolutely wonderful. 3 out of the 7 staff we personally met have worked there for over 20 years, that says a lot. Jose at the front desk was always there for anything and everything we needed; from pool towels to guiding us on what to do/ see & passed on many valuable tips the tour books don't give you. We planed on staying 2 nights but ended up staying 7 nights! We made Rio Mar our "home base" from which to explore all the other places. Manuel Antonio & Jaco are about an hour away- we chose to do the drive so we could stay in this peaceful beautiful town at the adorable Rio Mar. Thank you for a perfect week.

Smallish room but comfortable, beautiful grounds, friendly staff and fabulous food. We plan on returning with our son in the future to take advantage of the pool and playground. A relaxing, wonderful place next to the river with well-groomed grounds and wonderful bird watching.
By the way -- we arrived without a reservation, and the staff attended to us right away and was very accommodating. I even asked the front desk for some bug repellent (since I came unprepared) and they were very nice.

We'd booked this hotel a week before we were due as we were backing for 5 weeks on our honeymoon. We were looking for somewhere with a laid back vibe (area and hotel). After staying in hostels this hotel was exactly what we were looking for. The place was quiet as it was just getting in to low season which was ideal.
Staff were so lovely and friendly at the desk when we arrived and we were given a welcome drink. The rooms themselves are like little cabin type bungalows with a lovely private patio that had a bar table, stools and fridge and some comfy chairs. We spent most evenings here to be honest just listening to the wildlife. Occasionally getting bitten by bugs but that's the rainforest for you!
The pool area is lovely and clean with a small swim up bar. There are lots of birds and lizards running around which was cool to see.
Breakfast was great and local. Rice and beans, different eggs, some sort of potato dish, meat and cheese. Fresh fruit, toast, cereals....all very good and we filled up until our evening meal.
We ate at the hotel restaurant quite a few times as the food was very good and prices seem to be the same everywhere in Dominical with only a pound or two difference.
Wifi is excellent at the resort, in the rooms and in the public places.
The hotel is a 10-15minute walk down the road from the centre of the village down a dusty road but it's always beside the river and we came face to face with a sloth one evening which was really cool. It's pretty well lit but you might want to take a small torch or use your phone torch in one or two areas.
We used Easy Ride Shuttle Services as a return trip from and to the airport which we booked before getting there and they were brilliant, can't recommend them enough as we were going to stay an extra night but then our flights were changed so we had to change it again. They were brilliant about all these changes.
Lovely hotel and would highly recommend it.

Excellent reception staff offered to show us rooms before we finished check in (no reservations- we just showed up). Grounds are beautiful and rooms are very nice with outside bar patio area great for listening to birds at night and in morning. Very nice restaurant and bar area and good food. Nice breakfast buffet included in price. Wound up staying 2 nights instead of one because we liked it so much. Perfect location in Dominical area. Great staff will stay there again.
