My wife and I enjoyed our 4 night stay here. The staff was excellent - very friendly and attentive. The sanctuary was a great addition to our stay! Unbelievable views of wildlife and the surrounding area! We whale watched and bird watched all from our front porch over coffee! We really enjoy having our own kitchen when we travel so this place was perfect all around.

Room tip: Villa #3 was amazing

We stayed here four nights. The pictures don't do the view justice when seeing it in person for the first time. We stayed in a two bedroom villa which had plenty of space. Due to the size of the hotel and the fact that all the rooms are villas, you get the service of a hotel but the feeling of a private residence. Most of the time the pool area was pretty empty. Breakfast was included and allowed you to pick from a menu each morning, and it was always very good. We didn't use the staff to book any day trips but they had beach items to borrow if you go to the beach, which was great, including boogie boards and surfboards. Service was great and due to the size most of the time seemed completely personalized. As a traveling family we wanted the extra space but I was weary of booking a single house, so this was a great compromise.

Villa 3 has an amazing view. The staff are so very friendly and helpful. The food at the restaurant was amazing. The only disappointment was that the animal sanctuary was closed during our stay and this was the reason we decided to stay at Villa Altura. But the staff told us of other places in the area where we could see wildlife. They gave us tips on what to do in the area. They even gave us a beautiful departing gift. We were very touched by this kind gesture. Thank you for making it a wonderful trip after all!

I visited twice over the summer. The staff is amazing and very personable, helping with anything you need. They helped book a few excursions for us and helpful with dinner reservations and recommendations. We enjoyed mornings on our deck in rocking chairs watching the toucans and visiting the wildlife sanctuary.
