While out exploring the area we saw a ten off for the Sipe Wilderness Area and decided to check it out. After traveling several miles down a dirt road we thought for sure we were lost and almost turned around. We kept going and about 6 miles in we saw the building for the visitor center. We got there close to closing time and most everyone had left. We had missed the annual butterfly festival by only a few hours.
A friendly gentleman who overseas the park greeted us and gave us a tour of the visitor center. He was a wealth of knowledge and gave us many insights that we would have otherwise missed. He toon us outside for the few and we sat on the back porch watching the hummingbirds come up the feeder.
We spent an hour there and had a lovely visit. The guy running the place loves visitors and I wish I could remember his name. We had a wonderful time. He gave us directions to head back to the main road down a forest road that had amazing views. Can't wait to return
