What an awful experience - arrived later evening, and was whisked through registration, being assigned room 105. This round is apparently called a ‘patio’ room. The room was small, lacking the details we had expected, and the ‘patio’ was a four-slab area with two grubby old chairs, directly facing a wall (approx 5 feet away) and to the left, an external open air walkway (security issue? - yes!) and what appeared to be a commercial vehicle parking area. No view at all. We spoke to reception, to be told ‘that’s the only room available’. We escalated and spoke to the manager who couldn’t have been less interested and basically said: ‘leave then’. Outrageous. From various other conversations we heard going on, other guests were also experiencing problems with rooms and expectations - who wants to pay $300 for a ‘patio’ room, so that you can sit feet away from a blank wall and next to a car park area. We overheard guests complaining in the restaurant too (while we were sourcing other accommodation, as we were not intending to stay at the Amara). The staff were simply not interested, never once acknowledged our issue or unhappiness properly, never apologised and when we left, didn’t even look at us. Awful. ATA!! AVOID THE AMARA!

Hello,

I'm sorry you didn't have a great experience with us. While I will let the numerous positive reviews on our service and care speak for themselves, there are a couple of points I would like to clarify for the sake of your fellow travelers:

Yes, as the hotel was fully occupied at the time of your arrival, we were unable to relocate you that evening. We did offer a complimentary upgrade for the remainder of your stay, and had you accepted and actually stayed with us, I have no doubt that you too could have had a great experience with us at the Amara. Additionally, for our guests seeking a view, we recommend booking one of our "Courtyard" or "Creekside" rooms.

We hope you'll stay with us in the future and let the zen of Amara and Sedona help you find peace.

We arrived at the hotel and were allocated room 203, the room was so noisy the furniture physically shakes! So we went back to reception to be told the hotel was full and there was nothing they could do.

We have never seen a room like this, it should be a storage locker not a $300/night room. We discovered the room is directly above a plant room, in which we found the maintenance guy, he knew exactly which room we were complaining about without us even telling him. We asked one of the front desk staff to come to the room and even she was shocked at the noise and vibrations.

The front desk manager and team were rude and very unhelpful, they did not offer to do anything to resolve the problem or apologise in any way. The front desk manager claimed he had stayed in the room for 3 weeks and therefore it was fine... I won't share my response. The only option we were given was that they would call another hotel for us.

We ended up leaving and finding another hotel for ourselves, who were able to offer us a room at 9pm for the same night. We have left our booking agent to deal with the Amara.

Strongly recommend you avoid this hotel and look elsewhere in Sedona as there seem to be many better options.

Hello,

I'm sorry to hear you were so disappointed with your room. While we were fully occupied on the night in question, had you chosen to actually stay with us and experience all the Amara has to offer (from a different room, more to your liking), I have no doubt you would have had a great experience like so many of our guests.

I hope you will stay with us on your next visit to Sedona, so that the tranquil experience that is the Amara can help you to find peace.

Tucked away right off the main street in Sedona is this gem of a hotel - just the right size, with a wonderful, friendly staff and incredible views of the red rocks. Truly a relaxing and amazing place to stay - we felt renewed and refreshed after only 2 days. The spa had the most friendly, wonderful people who made you feel right at home and greeted you by name...best facial ever with Simone!

We loved everything about this adorable hidden gem. Every employee was sincerely looking to make your stay enjoyable and stress free. We loved the coffee in the morning and the wine at 5pm, both complimentary in the lobby...nice touch.
Didn't get a chance to use the spa but will make a point of doing so next time.
You will not be disappointed booking a stay at the Amara...5 star all the way!

This tresort has an excellent location directly off the main street of Sedona with its own rock formation to view all day, but particularly in the evening. The restaurant overlooks a courtyard and (some distance farther) a swimming pool and hot tub The room was very comfortable, cleran, and spacious.
The restaurant is very good and the bartenders are more than excellent. One may dine inside or outside - reservations are recommended. Coffee and tea in the lobby all day and night. Even a few snacks and water for pets. Wine is served daily in the late afternoon.
The staff is excellent and ready to help at any time. Valet parking is efficient and included.
