This hotel is rustic and has a very helpful and very nice front desk staff...but it is located 15 minutes from the town center a long a very dusty un paved road. They have a Bar, but it does not open till 8 pm. They do have a shuttle to the city center...but the last run is at 8 pm. There were these Ibis birds in front of the hotel...a bonus. The hotel has no elevator and the rooms were hot.

Stayed here 2 nights as part of and prior to our Antarctica cruise with Quark Expeditions. This rustic wooden hotel was a bit far (6 km) from Ushuaia downtown but they provided free shuttle (didn't get to use it). Room and bathroom were of old stye but spacious and clean. Breakfast and dinner were nothing to complain or brag about.
What we liked most was that from the backyard of the dining room we could take the wooden stairs down followed by a short walk through the lush vegetation to the pebble and rocky beach of the Beagle Channel with lovely view of the water, enclosing snow-patched mountains and colourful homes in the valley. Saw many birds and wild flowers. It was an enjoyable late afternoon stroll with great photo opportunities.
It looked like this hotel was targeting cruise passengers more because their rates for regular clients were less competitive compared to hotels in downtown Ushuaia. Nevertheless, we had an enjoyable stay (Jan. 2 years back).
Incidentally found a friendly, helpful and fun taxi driver with a little English named Jose Garcia when he was dropping passengers to the hotel. We ended up using his service for the whole time (4 days), before and after the cruise, visiting Tierra Del Fuego National Park (World Heritage Site) and Estancia Harberton. He also took us back to the airport. You can contact Jose through email arregarcia@gmail.com or call him at +54 2901 15604563.

We stayed there in Feb 2016. Hotel is located out of Ushuaia downtown, which is cons. But Pros is hotel provides free shuttle several times a day to/from Ushuaia downtown, which was very decent and helpful. Keep in mind taxi will cost about $120 Argentinian pesos one way to/from Ushuaia downtown to/from hotel.
Hotel provides really amazing views - ether on the Bay or on mountains.
Hote is not new, wooden, and I heard the walls are to thin so you can hear your neighbors - well, we never heard no one, actually.
Hotel has not bad Wifi as well.
Breakfast is decent, nothing to talk about.
In the evening you can enjoy restaurant.
About 10 minutes of walk you can visit local superstore where you can buy anything.

Positives

- Amazing views all around the place. From the mountains to the channel. Mother Nature was everywhere!

- Staff were very friendly and helpful. Someone was always available if needed.

- Shuttle was very useful when you needed to go into town. Just be cautious of the time.

- Rooms were nice, wifi was not the best, but it wasn't the worse. It was mainly due to the high influx of people staying while I was there.

I stayed nearby at another place and the negatives are not really the hotels fault. But it is a problem they do have to handle and deal with.

Negatives

- Not that many options nearby to get food (Especially dinner). There was a supermarket nearby and it helped me out a lot.

- Location was amazing for nature and relaxing but if you do not have a car, it is far from the city center.

- Road is not paved around the area so if you decide to walk around the area, you will be stepping on dirt roads. Also if a car passes by, the dirt will blow everywhere so be careful. I recommend some eye protection like sunglasses and something to cover your nose when the dirt flies

Very nice staff and modern, clean and large rooms. Food in the restaurant was fabulous. A fair way out of the town but with shuttle buses running every so often that wasn't too bad, they didn't go too late at night though so that meant you had to get a taxi from Ushuaia (which are fairly cheep but more expensive than Buenos Aires)

Room Tip: No elevator so bottom floor rooms would be easier to access
