Mostl rooms are small and the restaurant is a 2 star cafe where self-serve is the more usual method.
Every person I dealt with at reception had little to no English-speaking capability making life extremely difficult for non-Spanish speaking guests.
Several attempts were made to charge more for rooms than originally advertised and paid through Internet booking service. Implausible explanations given that original rate paid only applied on certain dates and extra charges were now applicable.
Luckily we had copies of all bookings and payments made but trying to convince a Spanish only speaking staff member in English became impossible.
My credit card was debited for extra charges after departure. It took several long distance telephone calls and endless emails to get the unauthorized charges reversed.
They were eventually reversed by the hotel.
The hotel is well positioned for those wishing to walk around the shopping area of Ushuaia, be adjacent to a number of restaurants, are happy with very small rooms and speak Spanish.
This was our first time using this hotel and in future we will return to Hotel Albatross, which has a much better understanding of the requirements of international travellers, as well as having decent in-house dining facilities. It is also ideally located for transfers to the jetties used for embarkation & disembarkation for Antarctica.More
