Popped in for a quick lunch. The food was good, what you'd expect I suppose. Got a pizza and water, good service. Frequented by a lot of locals, and that is slash good advertisement in itself!

We arrived in BA on December 30, so really did not plan for New Years Eve appropriately, not realizing that many restaurants are closed, and the ones that aren't are reserved in advance. Hence how we ended up at La Madeleine.

Really a glorified pizza place/bakery, but its large size and inviting interior gave us hope. It was short lived. They had a New Years Eve menu. Your choice of matambre (cold stuffed veal) and ensalada russa (potato salad made with peas) an or caprese salad. The matambre and ensalada russa were good. The caprese salad was not: under ripe tomatoes topped by small balls of mozzarella that were well past their prime. When we mentioned this to the waiter he shrugged his shoulders when what he should have done was offered us an option, or replaced the salad with fresh mozzarella.
Mains were ravioli in tomato sauce or a steak. The raviolis were overcooked and drowning in sauce. the steak was meh: considering Argentina is the land of great steaks, quite disappointing.
Dessert was vanilla ice cream or a panna cotta that was tasteless. We got a bottle of water and a glass of warm champagne.
I guess I am more upset at the price for the quality of food: $75.00 US per person. More than we paid for an amazing meal Puerto Madero,($60 per person) which is by far a classier venue. Then the waiters demanded a tip. We were going to leave one of course, but they made sure of it. I only came across that once in my many years of dining out.

They need to stick with pizza I guess.

If you are looking for a good place to have some quality food and proper service after midnight to morning, go to La Madeleine. From gourmet dishes to well make pizzas, it has a fantastic menu including sodas and some of alcohol drinks plus friendly service. Matambrito al Verdeo, Rabas a la Provenzal, Pizza con Panceta, etc etc.. Highly recommended!

If you go here you have to have the empanadas and order the pizza. The staff is friendly little bit slow because it's busy but a good time to go. Very casual and there are a couple TVs if there's any sporting event going on. Add this to the list
