Look no further for a hotel in BA. Everything about the Algodon Mansion is wonderful and it will exceed your expectations! The rooms are huge with enormous beds and a bathroom to die for! Great breakfast with a cold buffet and made to order hot items! Amazing happy hour with unlimited wine, spirits and snacks! And just the greatest and most helpful staff. Hotel does not have a gym, but guests can use one nearby (except Sunday when it is closed). Thank you for a terrific visit!

Recently stayed 6 nights at Algodon Mansion in an Ambassadeur Suite. You get the same benefit of location compared to staying at the larger Recoleta Hotels (Alvear, Duhau or Four Seasons), but a more personal and authentic experience. The rooms are quiet and of high quality with very comfortable beds and large walk in showers. The bar area is very cosy and serves a good selection of lighter bites (also a Tea Connection cafe next door). The wifi is of a decent speed. The staff are the highlight here though - charming and willing to help with anything. Pros and cons as follows:

Pros:

- Fabulous staff with very good English
- Ideal location
- Spacious, quiet rooms
- Large, comfortable beds
- Large ensuite bathroom with his/hers basins and large walk-in shower and bath
- Good lighting system, which can all be controlled from your bedside
- Plenty of plug sockets in rooms (the main room sockets are the type I type which some international adaptors don't cater for)
- Additional sockets of other international types available in the desk (although they are recessed, so somewhat awkward to access)
- Decent wifi (did drop out briefly one day, but came back after a couple of hours)
- Good selection of TV channels (including ESPN), although they are nearly all dubbed into Spanish
- Cosy wine bar (serving wines from their own vineyard) and a selection of food available on request (wine & nibbles free at certain times)
- Small continental breakfast available, with other options (e.g. scrambled eggs, eggs benedict and omelettes) available from the menu and all very well cooked
- Useful having a Tea Connection cafe next door for alternative light bites

Cons

- Taxi drivers don't know the hotel, so make sure you have the address written down or on your phone
- No booklet with available services or room functionality in the room. Could have done with more explanation on check-in of how the various room functions worked.
- No free HDMI socket available on the TV to use a streaming stick - satellite TV box and DVD player used both available HDMI sockets all available ports are covered so you can't access them to swap connections. TV remote has a Netflix button, but that option is not available in the hotel.

For a small intimate property - this is the best. Loved the 4 - 6 pm happy hour of complimentary drinks and snacks - Johnny Walker Red included. There was a limit on tea and coffee (2 each from memory) in the rooms. But if you wanted more - then just go downstairs. It seemed available all day.
However, they make up for it with the complimentary bottle of their red wine in our room! Awesome!
PRO: Definitely the staff. Francisco and Eduardo? Sorry for my memory lapse. But both managers on duty, the waitresses, and barman. They are so knowledgeable about their country.
We really liked the big bed. It was THE most comfortable bed we have slept on during our travels. Some guests don't seem to like it - but for us, it is PURE luxury.
Best Empanadas we had were here!
Breakfast had nice sweets and cakes. As well as a cooked breakfast on order.
Location in Recoleta is excellent. My husband got a haircut at the Barbershop next door! I recommend that surreal experience. It's like stepping back in time. His door is always locked, just knock and he answers it.
CON: There was a problem with the bath tub - which I was looking forward to using after 4 days of horseback riding at an estancia in Mendoza! Felt bad for the concierge when he saw that the mechanism was missing. No problems. The marble bathroom was huge and I see that we were not charged for our light dinner. So that was kind of them.

We also stayed at the Palacio Duhau Park Hyatt. It's unfair to compare the two as they are different properties in size. If you prefer an intimate setting without much green areas - then this is our first choice.

Room Tip: ours had a beautiful view of Jacaranda trees

What a great place! The service is amazing. All personnel speak english. From the front desk, to the bar and restaurant, everyone was welcoming, helpful and friendly. Rooms are spectacular. Maybe the largest bed i have been in my life. Bath was very nice as well. Breakfast was great as well.

Location is perfect.

If you want a spa treatment, you must order ahead of time. Also the phone system is antiquated. These two aspects are very overcomable as this hotel is a very special place.

We will definitely return.

Room Tip: Room 7 was amazing.
