We went to Warwick for a friend's birthday. For parents of little kids, the venue is great with safe water features to splash in, jungle gyms and large lawns for running and playing. We found the picnic itself to be rather pricey. A small bread loaf, bean and tomato salad, potato salad, about 175g of sliced fillet, around 75g of cheese, bit of chutney, biltong pate, cream cheese with pesto and a creamy, lemony dessert for R550 for two seems a little exorbitant. The drinks are also restricted to only Warwick wine, cooldrinks and craft beers. Contrary to popular belief, not everyone likes craft beer. The wine is nice and it's a nice afternoon out. But for R550 plus drinks it's a bit pricey for just "nice".

HI Alison, Thank you for your kind comments and positive review on the child-friendly nature of Warwick. It is a great source of pride for us to welcome so many happy families.
Regarding the poor choice of drinks - as the wine estate where our wines are grown, it would be a reasonable expectation to only have Warwick wines available. In fact, Warwick is relatively uncommon in also offering beers as a substitiute to quench your thirst on a sunny day. Perhaps you could let us know what beverages other than Warwick wine, beer, soft drinks and water you would like to have available so that we can accommodate you more effectively next time?
Did you enjoy the food?
I was sad to hear that you felt our pricing was to high, but accept your point of view.
We do not often get this comment.
Regards,
Mike Ratcliffe

If you have children and fancy a wine-tasting, head to Warwick. They are really child-friendly, but serve lovely wines (try the rosé!) and absolutely great food (even the kiddybox was great). Book a spot and enjoy your picnic.

Very accommodating staff, we'd booked a wine safari for 4 o'clock and it was no problem to bring this forward to 1pm, this meant that we would have to have our picnic a bit later than scheduled but again no problem at all. The wine safari was full of interesting facts and the wine grapes were linked to Africa's big 5 a great tour lasting about 1 1/2 hours. Finished that and had a our picnic, a divine selection of meat, salads, breads, pate and cheese served in a wine crate for 2 people, plenty of food for 2 adults. All served to us on a pre booked lake site pitch, blankets and sun parasol and bean bags at the pitch for comfort.

If you have children, you must go here! There is a fabulous and safe playground for the kids to play with while you enjoy some wine. The setting is beautiful and the staff is friendly.
