Comfortable Hotel

Review of Eendracht Hotel
5.0 of 5 bubblesReviewed 31 Jan 2017
Very comfortable hotel with friendly staff. Centrally situated so that you don't need to use your car to explore. A small paved garden with a plunge pool. We can't fault the hotel, but one observation is that the rooms are stuffed with furniture. There are two desks, two Lloyd Loom chairs (which we managed to get the maids to take away) and a large coffee table. The rooms are quite small, so would be more comfortable with less furniture, and less risk of stubbing your toe!
Date of stay: January 2017
Room Tip: Had a room at front beside a busy road, but it didn't disturb us.

The Hotel is ideally situated on the edge of the centre of town and a short walk from the University. We were there to watch Venters so could walk to all the different venues & back to the hotel with ease. The rooms are perfect & the staff were very accommodating. I will definitely be back to stay in the near future.

I accompanied my son for his first year of university, the location of the hotel is very convenient. I walked everywhere, there was no need for transport. The room was always clean and refreshing to stay and sleep in. The staff were always friendly. The security is also very good. All my possessions were there when I left.

We stayed for 4 days in the Eendracht Hotel. We were in room 6, which is the room with the balcony on the front. The balcony was great allowing us to relax in the evenings and watch as the world went by on Dorp street. Our room was nice enough with WIFI and all of the usual amenities including a fridge. Some rooms open directly onto the pool, others are situated in the main part of the hotel building, all rooms that we saw were a reasonable size with some nice period furniture. The hotel does have a small pool with limited seating. It also has guarded parking in a quiet car park at the rear of the hotel. The hotel does not have a restaurant, but does have a limited bar in the 'lounge' beside reception. Breakfast was served in a nice room at the front of the hotel, there was a good selection of cereals and fruit salad with yoghurt. Juice and cold cuts and cheese were also in plentiful supply. Cooked food was also served with nice bacon and spicy sausage (wors). Omelettes were large and well filled. we had a problem when a porter damaged our luggage, but after a brief exchange of disappointment, the staff were able to get the luggage repaired. Our only other comment was the cost. I do realise that this was a town centre hotel but it was exactly twice the price of several other similar standard places that we stayed in South Africa.

Room tip: Check which room, R6 with balcony was nice, but a pool room may suit others

Dear Polychrest
Thank for your in depth review! When I travel myself a review like yours would be invaluable to me. Thank you!
I am sorry about the luggage problem. And yes, being in the town center does have its positives and (unfortunately) negatives. But I can promise you we are working on them!
Thank you for staying with us and hope to see you again soon.

A lovely 3 days of comfort, peace, good breakfasts and … convenience. Just a short walk to where everything happens in Stellenbosch: that factor makes this an almost unbeatable option, especially at the price.

We had Room 2, with its tiny courtyard, tucked away behind Reception. Can’t fault much there, from the well-appointed bathroom with hansgrohe fittings to the pair of comfortable Queen beds. The only small niggle was the lack of places to stow clothes: the fold-up shelf in the wardrobe isn’t quite the perfect answer.

Good breakfast, good staff, good prices, good accommodation, good WiFi - what else do you want?

As smokers, we much appreciated the sensible approach taken by the Eendracht instead of imposing a blanket ban. Smoking outdoors is OK, unlike many places that just ban it on the whole property. The situation is explained very charmingly on the website!

We will definitely return.

Room tip: Room 2, ground floor.

Good morning The_Old_Brits
The room you stayed in is exactly the one I want to market as the room available for cyclists! The "tiny courtyard" as you so eloquently put it, is most suited to store your cycles securely! We now have many cyclist staying at our establishment.
Thank you for taking the time to write a review. We learn so much about our business this way.
Thank you.
