During our recent trip to South Africa, my husband and I decided to spend a couple of days in Stellenbosch. Since it was going to be during my birthday, we wanted to visit some of the top notch wineries without having to worry about the hassles of transportation and large tour groups.
We chose to book a private wine tour with Tsiba Tsiba. Elaine, our guide was extremely responsive from the very beginning and provided us with some outstanding recommendations on how to arrange our day. We chose to visit Tokara, Thelema, Rustenberg, followed by lunch at Delair Graff Estate and final stop at Waterford vineyard. Elaine agreed to pick us up a little bit earlier in the morning, since we wanted to ensure that we had plenty of time at each vineyard.
Elaine picked us up promptly at our hotel. She drove us through the downtown part of Stellenbosch while informing us of the history of the town and the university. Elaine asked us about our interests, favorite wines, made outstanding recommendations as far as our tastings and overall was extremely knowledgeable about the wines and vineyards in the region. We were pleasantly surprised when we realized that the tasting fees were covered in our tour.
Elaine’s also made sure to mention that it was my birthday at Delair Graff Estate. We were seated at a table with amazing views and received a lovely card signed by the staff and a box of chocolates. My birthday celebration and overall visit was simply amazing.
