We love this place

5.0 of 5 bubblesReviewed 27 Mar 2020
This was our third visit. We like the fact that the property is right downtown and close to restaurants, etc. Even though ti is on a rather noisy main street, the rooms are tucked in back and are quiet. But the best thing about the place are the new owners, who are wonderful accommodating, just like the previous owners Hugh and Zoe. We arrived the night that the town was closing up in response to COVID19, and all the reataurants were closing. In response, Christo and Magda on short notice set up to feed everyone dinner at modest cost, a first for them, and it was terrific. We will certainly be back.

For me it was a great pleasure staying there. Everything was just perfect especially the location and breakfast. The swimming pool is a bonus and the rooms are well looked after. I would therefore recommend this place to anybody.

We were only staying the one night as we travelled along the garden route, but the reception from Clarissa was fabulous. We were shown our room everything was explained then she spent time with us telling us about the town and also the activities available in the area.
We had a king bed which was extremely comfortable, there was ample room, a fridge/ mini bar, a wall air conditioning unit, TV etc. Plenty of clothes storage. We had an entrance from a small verandah which was great for a drink of wine. Ample breakfast which was served either inside or on the front verandah.
A big thank to Magda, Kirsten and Clarissa for making us so welcome and for a wonderful stay.

We came to Oudtshoorn in the search of better weather and found the best host ever to introduce us to the beauty of Little Karoo! Both Magda and Christo took care of us with daily trip suggestions that where always on point, making sure to give us an umbrella without even asking and gave us the heartiest welcome into a guesthouse ever.

Rooms:
We booked a room with a king sized bed and a veranda, which was nicely decorated, clean and the bed was really comfortable.

Breakfast:
We got a menu to order our warm breakfast upon arrival and each night. Apart from that there is a buffet with fresh fruit, yoghurt, fresh cereals and sweet treats. Everything was really tasty and good.

Pool:
After a day out in the semi desert of Little Karroo you can take a swim here and feel completely refreshed

Location:
The guesthouse is located directly in the city centre of Oudtshoorn, so there are a few restaurants in walking distance. Additionally you can do a walk to look at the houses from the „ostrich era“ available ready for you in the guest map of the room.

Little Karoo:
There is a lot to do here, going to Ostrich farms and learning everything around the Ostrich Business, the Caves which are pretty impressive and then of course the landscape around here. Our hosts send us to look at Swartbergpass and the Red Hills and it was impressive! We loved it.

To sum it up, this Guesthouse and also Oudtshoorn is worth to spend more then just one day on your stop over to and from the Garden Route

Spent our yearly trip to Oudtshoorn with lunch Buffles Drift. Dinner at Jemimas playing golf and staying at new and excellent B&B Baron van Reede Guesthouse. Always an enjoyable time in the heat of the little Karoo
