We have just returned from a two night stay at Knysna Hollow, after staying at the Cape Town Hollow we were excited to stay here. The staff were extremely friendly and helpful and the grounds were beautiful. We ate in the restaurant one night and the food was lovely! Unfortunately, we feel our experience was let down by the cleanliness of the rooms. We asked to move rooms and whilst the second room was an improvement the room was rather tired (shower not fully functioning), had a strange damp smell (apparently this comes from the thatch) and it was covered in dust. On the whole we enjoyed our stay here but feel the rooms should have been more clean and need updating!

Thanks for the detailed review of your recent stay with us at Knysna Hollow - we're thrilled to hear that you enjoyed our friendly service and the experience in our restaurant and we will certainly look into the issues you raise in regard to your room - we continually strive to train and improve our staff in all areas and are also in the process of a refurbishment program in some of our rooms this winter season. My husband and I recently stayed at the Knysna Hollow Country Estate. Our client had booked us into a standard room. The rooms are spacious and offer the basic services ie coffee/ tea/ wi-fi / hair dryer/ safe etc. The setting of the Estate is wonderful with plenty of nature all around. Conveniently close to town.

What made the stay for us, was the friendly and welcoming manner of the staff. The staff serving breakfast were always willing to assist and on hand to fill up the coffee cup. On the last day we went for breakfast later than usual and ran slightly over the breakfast time but the staff didn't chase us away instead they were still willing to refill our coffee cups as usual with happy smiles and told us not to worry, to enjoy ourselves.
A rare treat in this day and age....Thank you!!!

This estate is in a quiet area of the town but still accessible to anyone. We were assigned huts with thatched roofs which was interesting and an unusual experience. Our hut had a living room and a large bathroom with two sinks and french doors to our room and living room. We enjoyed the space; however, I was a bit worried about spiders coming down the ceiling or the preying mantis that was at our door on the first day. Breakfast selection was limited but good enough. Dinner was also fine. This was a comfortable retreat esp after a long drive.

Thank you very much for taking the time to tell us about your recent stay with us at Knysna Hollow and we're all very happy to hear that you enjoyed your time with us - our insects are all very friendly here on the Garden Route and far prefer the great outdoors to the inside of our rooms, so no worries there at all ;-)
With warm regards from Clive and the Knysna Hollow Team.

stayed over for 2 nights, rooms are really great, spacious and modern, however, the smell of the room personally is a bit too earthy, due to the fact that the fan is on when you get there, once switched off the room smells a bit better but as soon as you leave the morning for your usual walk into town, the cleaners switch on the fan again, causing you to come back to the same over-earth smell. Breakfast was perfect, barman doesn't seem to know much on how to make cocktails but it was still great. Pools were ice cold(awesome) especially in that heat. staff are brilliant, super friendly and even the baboons visited, Thanks again

Room Tip: anything but the hut-looking chalets due to the reek

On behalf of all of us at Knysna Hollow - thank you for the wonderfully-positive review of your recent stay with us and we're happy to hear that you had a great stay, even if we do need to polish up our cocktail-making skills (which we certainly will do!) Safe travels back home and best regards from us all.

We stayed for two nights in this charming hotel situated outside Knysna but in walking distance of the town and the seafront. The rooms were large and spotlessly clean and standards of service were excellent throughout the hotel. Food was excellent.
