We booked this venue months before because of its splendid TA reviews. Its strengths are well presented but, for me, it has a few weaknesses not seen in the several reviews we saw. The building is as externally palatial as depicted but up a very steep driveway blocking final driving visibility on entry. The views are excellent from the property with morning sun, although it disappointingly loses the sun in the afternoons/evenings. Our room was comfortable and described as a suite. It isn’t a suite – which should have adjoining rooms to my understanding. We also had local wild monkeys trying to enter the bathroom windows, so keep the windows closed! Breakfast was around a shared table with fellow guests. This was pleasantly convivial, although getting your freshly cooked choice free from unnecessary sharp dressing was an effort (e.g. lemon juice in scrambled egg). Plain food was described as ‘boring’, even if it’s what guests wanted! There was what was described as a shuttle for local restaurants but it turned out to be a taxi requiring payment – unlike the free service we received at another 5 star (but more expensive) guest house we stayed in. The hosts were very nice and always tried to please and their staff were pleasant. Their golf booking arrangement was helpful but required settlement in cash rather than as an addition to the final bill. Overall, for me, its weaknesses outweigh the strengths.
