This is an amazing little restaurant off the beaten path. It is set in an old house, with seating either in a courtyard or inside in front of a fire. The menu varies weekly based on what is fresh. Only open for dinners Thursday through Saturdays. Other days of the week it is open for lunch. We had a fish dish and a vegetarian dish. The veggie dish had cous cous that they changed out for potatoes when I told them I didn't eat wheat. Very reasonable prices for Hermanus. A must visit while you are there.

Probably wouldn't have found this place had we not seen it on Tripadvisor, as it's a not eith the cluster of restaurants around the Village square area.
Limited but good menu. We had the smoked brisket- which was excellent, but the chicken curry was more of a stew with a hint of Malay curry. Our main meal was followed by a delicious berry crumble. An intimate restaurant with a fire burning to keep us warm, with hands-on service - all in all, an above average meal.

We recently had lunch here, and it was superb! The new owner Anton Verhoogt and his team were fantastic.
We had a selection of food from the menu, and it was really picture perfect food, and the wine list was amazing!

Visited again twice in last two weeks, it has new owner, well known chef Anton from Fisherman's Cottage is doing a great job!
There is a blackboard menu which changes often, very interesting offerings, great ambience and can't wait for summer to see what his going to do with the outdoor area!

I get what they're trying to do at Barefoot, but the food wasn't there. The amuse buche was candied anchovy stuffed olives. Sounds interesting, but the balance was way off resulting in a very weird bite. Both my starter of snails and main of oxtail involved wine sauce that was not cooked enough. The alcohol was too pronounced. The dishes themselves simply didn't need to be as fussy. Had they focused on what was good about these dishes, they would have had an easier time with it (and the food would have been better). Nevertheless, lovely setting and very engaging service.
