Perfectly located upmarket hotel in Hermanus. Location and the views from rooms facing the sea cannot be beat.
Service at the front desk was impeccable and status recognition--the
hotel is part of SLH--was examplary.
A few minor gripes:
- The windows in my room were quite old, seemed stuck, and could not be opened. Unfortunately, the windows were also quite dirty. I understand the room was directly facing the open sea, making it very difficult to keep windows clean. But this is a luxury hotel.
- The door to the room could have been of a higher standard. Old lock, some light bleeding through, and, most significantly, poor noise insulation.
- At one of the dining establishments, I was asked to tip in cash. Not a big deal, but I feel at a property of this category, it should be up to the customer whether she tips via cash or card.
Overall, I had an excellent stay. I would return. Reason for not giving 5/5: Sure, the issues I had were minor. But this is a five-star hotel, so I hold them to a higher standard than a run-of-the-mill Marriott or Hilton.
