Description: This International award winning destination venue is the most unique restaurant setting in the world. Created out of an authentic, cave previously inhabited by a Koi Strandloper of the same name, the restaurant spills out onto the oceans rocks of Walker Bay in Hermanus, where Whale Watching is the preferred local pass-time. The rustic charm and natural ambiance of the cave and it's surroundings is a delight to all our patrons with many returning year after year to sample the delights of Bientang's Cave. With an abundance of sea and bird life as well as Dassies for company, this exquisite setting is heightened by the freshest seafood and an award winning wine list (Diners Club Diamond Award 2010 to 2013).And, should you be a non-seafood(ie), we offer meat, poultry and vegetarian dishes to satisfy any palate. We had a leisurely seafood lunch this past weekend. We literally sat on the rocks, and the service was very good. The good was well prepared and delivered very fast. The wines and cocktails selection was brilliant too, and the kids had a great time playing next to the ocean. Steeped in history, too, Bientangs has it all!

Fabulous location being down by the sea. We asked if it was ok to just have a drink - the drinks and food menus were then provided. We were then totally ignored and so we left pretty disappointed.

We had a great experience at Bientang's cave. It's such a cute setting with a nice story behind the cave. We thought the prices were going to be sky high due tp the seaside location and a tourist trap but they were very reasonable. Staff were polite, helpful and friendly. Cocktails and food were great I will defiantly be returning

Awesome view for cocktails right on the ocean, but make sure you do t have any elderly people with you as those stairs demand good legs.

While we did not have any whale sightings, this is really one of themost uniquely beautiful places I have been to. We booked for an early dinner, which in hingsight should have been late lunch instead to make better use of time and daylight. It got quite windy and cold as it became darker - so do note this as you will need a jacket. It is a less formal setup with wooden bench type tables. The seafood is really good and there are some vegetarian options [just 2-3 I think]. I do think its a must-do when in the area and do please book if going during the day. Do note that there is a fairly steep staircase to the restaurant.
