I’m not the typical trains, planes and automobile type and thought I’d be bored but...what a pleasant surprise!

I love the detail included in the exhibits...exact dates, crockery of each train, clothing, books, furniture and even menus. It is super cool that one can climb into a few of the locomotives and makes for great photo opportunities!

The vintage car collection is awesome and takes you back to some 007 moments.

Ensure you have enough time to go through the entire museum and possibly have lunch at the train carriage restaurant.

We couldn’t reach the museum via phone on a public holiday and assumed they were closed. We decided to pop in nevertheless and were surprised to find them open.

Would definitely recommend a visit.

Dear Sir

I'm glad to hear that you have enjoyed the visit to the museum. Due to certain weight restrictions on the culvert/bridges and curve radius on the section between George and Port Elizabeth and George/Worcester the 15F cannot be relocated to George. However we have Locomotive number 2994 as a heritage item on display at the Klein lassie museum in Worcester. Several others are at steam clubs in the country with a few still running.

Kind regards

On first sight the whole place has a rundown feel about it, but inside if you are into steam or transport you find some real gems.

Many locos are on display along with many other transport related items all well displayed with the relevant information attached.

We went for a trip on the power van, a peculiar rail-car run on diesel that appears to go backwards. It’s timeworn and very badly maintained. On the day we went doors were flying open, an event which went unnoticed by the driver and seats which on later inspection were unattached to the floor moving all over the shop.

Trip was quite informative and gave a new perspective, but luxury it isn’t.

Nice old museum to spend an hour or so wandering round preserved steam loco's, old carriages, and ox carts. Well worth a trip and lovely place to sit and enjoy the view (back in time).

We have visited this museum many times and always find something new. Very well maintained and clean. Good collection of classic cars. Loved the illuminated carriages with people (dummies) at the dining table. Interesting to see something of the royal train used for the queen's visit. A steam enthusiasts dream!
