We were on holiday from the UK and entertained family for dinner in December 2016. This was the 2nd time we had been to the 5 Rooms Restaurant and really enjoy the location and setting with the lovely grand entrance to the restaurant. We found the food to be of very good quality and the service excellent. The Manager went out of his way to ensure that we were moved to a table of our liking as i need to sit near a window as I suffer with claustrophobia. We hope to return here again in December 2017.

This place can be found at the really historic Alphen Hotel. We went here for dinner, we loved the meals on the menu here. We had a great experience and evening here and the staff were really friendly and professional.

We had a business dinner at 5 Rooms. A fantastic venue with beautiful and cosy decor, it certainly helps with the ambiance and to relax. A fairly decent menu with variety but fairly pricey. Dinner was very average and the service was unfortunately very slow with various incorrect orders brought to the table. Considering that its a fairly expensive venue, one would expect that the service and food quality will be on par but unfortunately not so.

Unfortunately not a venue that I will rush back to or suggest to my friends and business partners.

We experienced very slow and bad service. The table next to us had a worse experience than us. Their soup starter arrived, and only 5 MINUTES LATER, the waiter brought the soup spoon! On our other side, there was a table of 6 who got served their main courses long before us, even though we had been sitting in the restaurant and placed our order long before them. Even placing our order was a comedy of errors, and we had to wait a long time before our waiter even bothered to come near us to take our drinks order, and then waited again for him to take our food order, and then to bring our food.

A lovely newly refurbished restaurant in a historic homestead. Plush furnishings but relaxed an informal. Stunning South African art on the walls. Great winter special menu.
