Gorgeous location for this super country house style hotel

5.0 of 5 bubblesReviewed 15 Feb 2023
Such a beautiful tranquil location with stunning 9 acres of gardens to explore. Friendly, welcoming staff who do their best to help you with all you need. We had a super light, airy double aspect ground floor room, with views towards the pool and a quiet terrace. All the rooms are different so good to enquire if you have specific needs. Extremely comfortable beds and pillows with ample storage. Breakfast good, dinner extremely good. Two pools, both with comfortable loungers and not squashed - no early morning bagging of chairs here ! Friendly, diverse clientele. Excellent location - Constantia village 5 minutes drive - although you can get a free shuttle. Lots of excellent restaurants within 10 minutes drive if you don't want to go as far as Cape Town central. You can't help but have a wonderful relaxing time here !

this hotel is situated within a residential community and has beautiful views of the mountains and the vast property. The staff is attentive and friendly, the rooms were comfortable and our balcony was wonderful to relax on using the lounge chairs. The food was delicious. They have a free shuttle to some areas and easy access to surrounding sites/wine country. There are 2 pools, fitness center, spa. Highly recommend

This location, quality and service were all magnificent. A wander round the garden, vineyard and trails worth it. Could not fault our experience. Safe and secure environment with a beautiful mountain backdrop. Staff all very helpful and even a friendly tortoise welcomes you to the poolside.
Loved every minute.

Room tip: If you must Uber be sure to use Uber Black rather than Uber Go, pay the miniscule extra for a more secure pleasurable experience.

Booked online for high tea for 7 people. Day before visiting got call from hotel asking for confirmation which is fine. What was not so fine was the sending of an invoice including a 10% service charge and the insistence of the hotel that it had to be paid prior to the visit. The invoice only had details to pay via bank transfer. On querying this the hotel then said I could put my credit card details into a spreadsheet and email it to them. Do the hotel not realise that this is not at all secure. Luckily the experience was rather pleasant and the food delicious. I do take issue at being served tea in a chipped cup though. Also the tea selection is rather heavily biased in favour of rooibos and its variations - not everyone is a fan. The glass of fizz at the beginning was very nice but for those in my party who weren't partaking of alcohol, they were promised a non-alcoholic drink only to then be told that the hotel had run out. They were most disappointed. It is not very professional to have alternatives and not be able to provide them especially in an 5 star hotel.
We had to ask for water - surely a professional hotel would make the offer to its paying customers and then ensure that glasses were refreshed if necessary.
Had i not been forced into paying the service charge in advance I would have paid more than the 10%. And I think it is very underhand of the hotel not to set out on the website the conditions attached to booking high tea.
I would very much like the hotel management to comment on the points I have made but I will not hold my breath waiting.

This is our new favorite hotel in Cape Town! Its in Constatia surrounded by beautiful nature. The grounds are breathtaking with flowers, trees and green lawns. They even have ducks who love to visit the restaurant!

The hotel is quite small which adds to its charm. It boasts two swimmingpools, a gym, tennis court and a spa.

We stayed in the Liz McGrath villa and it was spacious and beautifully appointed with its own garden.

The service was outstanding and friendly throughout. The food was really delicious. We had breakfast, lunch and dinner and we enjoyed every meal! The housekeeping was also impeccable.

Its the best of two worlds- centrally located (a short drive to the city center), but feels like your a million miles away from a city!

Highly recommended! We can’t wait to return!

Room tip: We loved the Liz McGrath Villa!

The service was very fast and professional. The decor was exquisite and absolutely lovely! The grounds were beautifully manicured, and there were more than enough staff to give proper direction for High Tea! I went for my birthday and it was everything I needed it to be!

Room tip: Be sure to make your reservation timely since the area for High Tea is rather intimate. Also take an Uber to navigate the twisted roads.
