We had the pleasure to stay overnight and dine at the Greenhouse, the quality of the food, accommodation and relaxing atmosphere made it a total pleasure to stay, comfort and class in a magnificent setting. We will be back to enjoy the experience again.

Splendid restaurant on the grounds of Groot Constantia. Delightful seating outdoors or inside the stunning Dutch colonial building. Food is of very high quality and offers a huge, diverse selection at different price points. Perfect spot for a sunny afternoon or evening dinner with or without the children.

Dear wincentiveman

I am not clear that this review is meant for The Cellars-Hohenort as we are not on the grounds of the wine estate Groot Constantia, although we are in Constantia - but admittedly every other description does fit

Kind regards
Dominic

Beautiful setting in Constantia. Hotel set in fantastic gardens. Beautiful large room with wonderful complementary touches such as a well stocked mini bar. Hotel contains one of the top five restaurants in South Africa. Overall effortless excellence.

In December I visited this hotel with my daughter to enjoy afternoon tea in the beautiful garden. I'd previously enjoyed a wonderful experience. In spite of booking and mentioning we were there for the afternoon tea, we waited forever to be served. Eventually our tea arrived and was already finished and still NO food. I called the waiter over to enquire and he wasn't aware what to do but another waiter came and said he'd organise it. It arrived, wasn't as good as the previous occasion. I came home and wrote an email of complaint to the food and beverage manager and am still waiting for a reply!! Just wondering if anyone else has had a similar experience. Not what one expects of a 5 star hotel.

Dear Maureen S

Thank you for your feedback from your experience here in December with our afternoon tea, I apologize that this was not up to your expectation and that there was no response to your letter of complaint, I will of course investigate this.

We have recently re launched our High Tea to a much more inviting and appertising option which we call a Low Carb High Tea, it still has all the delicious tastes that you expect but will not leave you feeling sluggish after

I look forward to welcoming you back soon

Dominic

There are few hotels in Cape Town, and South Africa for that matter, that can match the impressive architectural ensemble of The Cellars-Hohenort. The grounds of the hotel are simply splendid, and you are dazed by the white bushes of roses as you approach the reception. Unfortunately the young girls at the reception, bar Leonie van Jaarsveld, were at a complete loss concerning our booking of "half board". We were first told that it was bed and breakfast, and after consultation with the equally young lady manager and some phone calls to their agents, it was decided that "half board" was breakfast and dinner. One does not expect this sort of incident in a "five star hotel" but once the issue was resolved, we settled in to enjoy the good service that generally prevailed in the hotel.
The restaurants for dinner and breakfast were very smart and quite elegant. One evening my wife had the misfortune to eat the worst entrecôte of her life, the meat being full of sinews but the following evening we had superb springbok steaks.
After dinner we took coffee in the sitting room with a nice cozy logfire burning.
The Cellars-Hohenort should be on the hotel connoisseurs list when visiting Cape Town.

Dear PeterHelsinki

Thank you for your review, we are delighted that you enjoyed staying at our property and I appreciate that you pointed out the issue with half board, it is not a term that is often heard at Hotels in SA but it still applies nonetheless and we have retrained our Front Desk Team, particularly the newer staff, to again familiarize themselves with these terms.

I appreciate the positive feedback on your breakfast and dinners bar the one entrecôte that obviously was a poor cut, but happy that you enjoyed the superb springbok steaks.

We look forward to welcoming you back soon

Regards
Dominic
