“The seared tuna was exquisite!”
Review of Dalliance

Dalliance
Ranked #130 of 1 207 Restaurants in Cape Town Central
Certificate of Excellence
Description: WELCOME TO THE DALLIANCE In the heart of the V&A Waterfront's golden mile is Dalliance, Cape Town's freshest authentic urban eatery. Flanked by the Atlantic Ocean on one side, a bustling kitchen at its heart and shoppers browsing on the other, this spot has it all. Frantic yet sophisticated, absorbing yet chilled out, let the cool chaos engulf you. Oyster shucking, raw juice making, craft beer pouring... there is so much to take in. The decor is chic, simple and considered; industrial meets library, in duck egg blue, copper and wood. Sit back, relax and allow the upbeat jazz to wash over you while the laid-back staff wow you with their gutsy sharing plates, lovely local wine by the glass and stellar cocktails.

We discovered this little gem of a restaurant whilst we were shopping at the V&A Waterfront. Initially we were not too excited about dining at the V&A as we have had some really bad experiences there. However their menu looked interesting and their view had me dragging my partner along.

Basically they have a tapas type of menu which suited us perfectly. For drinks we opted for their Virgin Cocktails which were absolutely delicious and refreshing. Those Virgin Cocktails were so damn good that between my partner and I we had all four of their Virgin Cocktails!!
Due to all the Christmas shopping we were famished so we ordered various little plates of goodness. We started off with some seafood and shared plates of Garlic Prawns, Calamari and Tempura Kingklip. All were fresh and cooked to perfection. I particularly enjoyed the Tempura Kingklip with Pea & Mint Purée.
Next we had the Beef Slider (basically 2 mini burgers), Raclette Cheese which comprised of Parma Ham & Sourdough with a melted Raclette cheese sauce. I would have preferred a cheese that wasn't melted into a sauce as it proved a tad bit difficult to eat.
Our last lot of plates were made up of Spaghetti Aglio, Beef Short Rib and Butter Chicken. My partner and I both agreed that the Spaghetti Aglio was the star. What an amazing bowl of simple pasta which just had Garlic, Olive Oil & Chilli. We could eat bowls and bowls of it. The Beef short rib was was flavoursome and the Bone Marrow Gratin added another texture to it.
The Butter Chicken however didn't do it for us. It just seemed a bit bland. Having said that we will give it a skip the next time we visit but there will definitely be a next time. Service was excellent and prompt. Staff have a great knowledge of the menu which is hard to find these days. The view is phenomenal and this is the perfect spot for lunch.

Well worth a visit.

In the middle of bustling Waterfront you will find this hidden gem. Entrance is just passed Gucci shop on your right. Views are beautiful and breathtaking. Food is tapas with small portions. Salmon tataki was nice but a bit overpriced but next tapas - curry chicken was delicious with naan bread to scoop the sauce. Devil peak craft beer was cold and welcoming in the heat of the day. It was a pleasant break from the Waterfront crowd, secluded with amazing views. Worth a visit.
