Had dinner at the Belthazar terrace with friends , restaurant is focused on good meat and grill . Fish menu possible as well as veggie options . Be aware its mostly very busy so you have to hop on the waiter’s fast moving train of menu explanation or you will be lost :-)

Lovely venue, good food and wine selection, happy staff. Everything went well on a reasonably busy night. Would happily return.

I know this restaurant alraedy for 16 years and during my 2nd last visit 2 years ago in Cape Town I noticed an empty terras and nobody inside. 2 weeks ago, when in Cape Town we tried again. The concept of having more than 150 different wines by the glass is still a nice idea, but donot expect anything from their very overpriced food. I ordered lamb chops and the only thing you get are 4 chops on a plate, no veggies or other things which make it a dish. Sorry chef, but this has nothing to do with good cooking, I even can make them better at home. I expect for R200 a little bit more effort and creativity ( I almost forgot, that they charge R25 extra for a baked potato) My partner had a kudi steak, ordered rare to medium. he got his steak medium to welldone, again a shame for the chef. And a a shame for us 2 because we didn´t eat together ( my dish was not taken away and served again with the Kudu steak of my partner). Conclusion: a very overpriced winebar, not recommended for eating.

But nothing exceptional.
This place was recommended as great food. There’s certainly plenty of it. The portions are HUGE. But that’s about all I can say. I’m not confident that the quality is anything of note and the service is very slow. Pity really because we were in the mood for dessert but after all that main course and desperately slow server lost interest.

Supposed to be the best steak on the Waterfront. While I cannot compare it to other Cape Town steakhouses, the steaks themselves were not particularly impressive. Medium is clearly interpreted as something closer to medium well and the steaks had no trace of this wonderful crispy crust you should expect of a great, perfectly done cut. The quality of meat was not out of the ordinary either. Extra points for the extensive wine selection (also by the glass), but it is hard to recommend especially that, unlike most restaurants in Cape Town, it was not exactly cheap and the desserts were downright awful. We had ‘Peppermint crisp’ and tiramisu and I still can’t decide which was worse.
