Dining here and not having steak or ribs is missing the point. The great variety of different types of steak can be confusing, but the good news is all of the steaks are great and are matured perfectly. Chances are that it will match or trump the best steak you've ever had. Sitting outside and watching the vibrant Cape Town harbour scene is mesmerising against the backdrop of the majestic Table Mountain.
Service is slick, fast and highly efficient.
You've hardly sat down before the most enticing boerewors in a rich and delicious sauce is served as a complimentary appetizer with freshly baked steaming hot rolls. Don't turn it down, it's free and an authentic part of the dining experience. Best time to go is in the afternoon, in order to enjoy the harbour ambience. I often go in the late afternoon, as the changing light is perfect for photography. This is one of the most beautiful scenic spots in the world.
Lunch would set you back about 35 US $ per person which includes two glasses of average South African wine, which would be excellent wine by world standards.

Don't get me wrong... The steak is great, but for Cape Town standards and for the price it ought to be absolutely phenomenal. Very impressive wine list, with a massive selection by the glass. Nice view outside over the harbour.

We stayed close to the V&A so it i was just a short walk to Belthazar. Really busy outside the first time we went but we got table inside, second=d time we booked ahead. One of the best voices of wine in the world, 3 or 4 memorable Malbec's, superb steaks and knowledgeable staff most of whom seemed to come from Zimbabwe. Excellent quality and really enjoyed the vive the place had lots of locals as well as tourists. Not expensive by UK standards

Went there with a larger group of people on a Sunday evening,
We were sitting out-side and it was very loud and hectic.
The service was very good and we trank some very good wines.
The food was alright but nothing special. Still this was one of the most
expensive evenings on our holiday.
