I had a meal with a business colleague at Balducci's.

This is a nice Italian restaurant located in the V&A waterfront area of Cape Town. It was established in 1996.

It is a beautiful restaurant. There is a nice feel to it.

There was an extensive menu. Each dish sounded great.

For starters my colleague chose the minestrone soup. I chose the teriyaki grilled calamari. For the main course, my colleague chose the traditional lasagne and I opted for a four seasons pizza with mushrooms, artichoke, olives and asparagus.

We enjoyed the view of the harbour.

Our starters were very good. My calamari was absolutely delicious. I could have ordered a second portion - but resisted the temptation. My colleague said that his minestrone soup was nice and thick.

The main course arrived after about 20 minutes. My pizza was tasty and exactly how a pizza should be. My colleague's lasagne was in his words "mamma mia - very nice".

We were in the restaurant for just under an hour - and it was a very enjoyable and pleasant time.

As my colleague paid for the meal, I am not sure what the total came to - but I guess it would be about GBP25 (Feb 2017). We did not drink any wine - just still water.

Still our favourite restaurant in the Waterfront. A huge menu can often mean less quality but not here. Whatever you order is served fresh and tasty.

No problems recommending this one !

A vast menu but it's easy to stick to the things you know and like, in my case the ostrich lasagne which is amazing. Good drinks menu too

We always visit Baldicci's for either sushi or their main menu. The food is still good and the sushi very fresh. The only off putting issues for us were that some of the menus are very grubby and the bathrooms are disgustingly dirty and smelly. It appears as if the bathrooms have not had a good scrub for ages. I am concerned that the kitchen is equally dirty....

Dear Christelle, thank you for the feedback. Our bathrooms are check and cleaned every 20 minutes, so it is very possible that the "disgustingly dirty and smelly" bathroom area was in between these checks. I will take this up with the managers immediately this morning. Regarding the menus, I will ensure that these are removed from circulation and replaced with new ones. My apologies that this was "off putting" and I am looking forward to hearing from you on your next visit to let us know the difference. Regards, Andrew

You go to a restaurant to eat, so food is the primary focus and expected to be good. That's unless you come to this restaurant and see the fab menu and get served by Freeman. Whole deal!

Thoroughly enjoyed this experience. So many delicious meals to select from but in this occasion, starter was Teriyaki Calemari. Wow, so tasty and thankfully a decent size portion, didnt want it to be finished, and this was sharing the starter. We followed this with tempura prawns for my husband, again portion size was generous (was around 2 dozen prawns), and very moreish. I had linguine with primavera sauce with feta, delicious. You choose the sauce and match it with your preferred pasta/noodles. Win, win.

Without a doubt we saved the best till last going here in our final evening, and we had several really good meals during out 8 night stay. Only sad thing was that we couldn't go again, but then that would have been difficult to choose because I'd want the same again, but at the same time the menu had such a selection of delicious sounding food I'd want to try it all.

Well done Balcacci and Freeman.
