This is a real find. A lovely place with garden run by the delightful Minnie and Barry. They do everything to make the stay perfect. The garden suite for 10 days was just what we needed, and with V and A Waterfront a gentle 15/20 mins stroll, what could be better at this price. I pressed the wrong star rating by fat finger trouble. Give it 5!

We stayed 2 nights and were overhelmed by the hospitality with which we were welcomed. The guesthouse is a paradise in the center of capetown. But it is not just the beautiful house and garden. It is more the kindness and friendship of Barry and Mina which makes the stay so special.

We picked this B&B because the reviews about the owners were great and we weren't disappointed! Barry and Mina are lovely hosts in this cozy quaint guest house in the bustling city of Cape Town. Chocked full of interesting antiques and all of the comforts of home, Jambo is the perfect location in which to explore Cape Town. Walking distance to the Waterfront and across the street from a park, they have a gorgeous garden which you can sit out and enjoy morning tea. The highlight is their proper English pub upstairs where we spent every night with Barry and Mina drinking wine, playing guitars and enjoying conversation!

Room tip: The Garden room has a private entrance through the garden!

I try to stay at the Jambo Guest House whenever I'm in Cape Town. The owners are superbly helpful in guiding strangers to the Cape into getting the most out of their days. During this most recent stay they helped a few folk from Northern Europe get the best out of just two days in Cape Town, which is about two months too short, in my opinion.

One of the reasons I enjoy being there is that the guests gather upstairs in the pub each evening, discussing what they've seen, and sharing adventures. It's so much more personal than an hotel.

I recommend it wholeheartedly.

We were staying for three nights in Cape town and we looked for a place that felt familiar. We chose Jambo and we are really happy that we did! It's a proper guest house, with a small terrace, a pretty garden with a small pond and lovely hosts, Barry and Mina. The rooms were tidy, breakfast is good, the staff were very kind, wifi worked, there was laundry service upon request and drinks we could get from the bar in the evening.

More importantly you can casually sit with the hosts and learn about where you are. The bar of the house was a far more interesting place to sit than i thought it would be.They were very happy to give us tips, offer ideas and options from their frequent visits to Cape Town's restaurants and even booked whatever we needed for us.

Any shortcomings? Well, part of the plumbing could use an upgrade, some room's linens and decor seems worn, some windows, doors and floor boards rattle and creek. As guests, we could care less for that. It is what it is. A century old house with an authentic aura.

I highly recommend staying here, it is a central location to walk the city, in a safe part of town and the people who host you will make for a very interesting stay versus any reception desk.

Dear George,
Thank you for taking the time to post a review about Jambo Guest House and thanks for pointing out about the plumbing but now I make a poit of checkig all the taps, flushes, showers etc regularly. I wish you had mentioned it while you were here ! As you said, Jambo is more than a hundred years old so things like creaky floorboards etc we have to live with.
Hope to see you here again soon.
Regards

Barry and Mina
