The Cape Royale has had its moments...now many of the upper suites are purchased on sectional title and let out, either by the hotel or by the individual owner...went bankrupt...now back on track...would I stay there? only if I were invited by the management for free...

The Hotel is luxurious and lives up to it's 5 stars. Has few restaurants outside of which we dined at the Café Royale and Jewel of India. The spa is worth spending your hard earned money on. Quite close to the stadium and the waterfront. The security at the entrance is quite good even if you just going in to the Spa you fill in the book on arrival.

Cycle tour weekend. Had friends staying at the Cape Royale hotel so we decided to visit the roof top bar. Lovely views. We ordered a sushi platter. It was fresh, made to order. Was chilled pool vibe in the afternoon sipping cocktails and got a bit more festive during the evening. A hidden gem. Definite for a revisit.

We stayed 3 nights in Cape Town in an appartment at Cape Royale. I booked through one of the big booking sites and was then contacted again directly by the management of the appartment to fill out other booking forms and provide deposit and booking fees. Disappointing process. The appartment 705 itself is very spacious with a great view over the harbour and ocean. Details such as soap and garbage bag where missing which were provided a day before departure. The pool was dirty and not suitable for swimming...

4 of us went to the restaurant for a quick bite to eat after the 1st day of the 7's. They had about 8 tables outside of 4 or 5 people max per table. We seated ourselves, waited for nearly 15 minutes before we received menu's after asking 4 times. We called the manager after sitting for half an hour, with NO drinks order atleast taken. Table behind us, where 3 elderly gentleman where sitting, also had no service. The manager looked at us and walked past, not even acknowledging our existance. 40 minutes later we left, still thirsty and hungry as no service what so ever was forthcoming. We all understand when you are really busy or short staffed, but for such an event? The manager and waiter did not seem rushed at all and walked to various tables and lingered, but not once where we offered any service.
