I stayed for 2 nights in March 2016 in what i think was a standard room. I love the blend of modern comforts and rich history that the hotel provides. The reception and dining hall building is fascinating.hotel had everything i needed for a short business stay. Room was very spacious and clean. Fitted cupboard and bathrooms need some attention though. Had a great curry a the the singing fig next door! Even though its in Mowbray, its more central than on thinks.

This hotel is wonderfully relaxing and professionally run. The staff could not be more helpful and friendly. My room is a very comfortable suite on two floors, with a small kitchen and double doors leading onto a small but sunny lawn. The view from this isn't great (high security fencing and beyond that a busy road) but the view as you step out of the front door is breathtaking (see attached). You feel like you're in the country but it's only a short walk local shops or a cheap cab ride into the city. (Uber is very reliable, safe and good value).

Excellent wifi, 2 TVs, comfortable sitting room and very comfortable (and quiet) bed has made for 10 nights of relaxed sleeping and total refreshment after a busy working day.

The breakfast is excellent and with a very wide variety of fresh food, so I couldn't be happier!

My only slight caveat would be that the bathroom could do with a bit of refreshing (the shower cubicle is a bit 'tired') but that's being very picky.

Finally, the Wild Fig restaurant and bar in a separate building but onsite does very fine food and snacks.

Fab place and one I'll definitely return to.

My wife and I recently spent several days in this hotel. We had a great time and thoroughly enjoyed our stay. The rooms are lovely and well serviced, the staff are very friendly and very helpful and the breakfasts are excellent, served in a very pleasant dining room. Management is " on the ball " regarding guests enjoyment and requests etc.

We stayed here for five nights in mid March 2016 and when we left we had no complaints about either the hotel staff or the rooms etc. The one area of concern was the Wild Fig Restaurant which had plenty of room for improvement, mainly on the service side. We found the staff to be lacking in knowledge and service ability both of which I would attribute to poor training and lack of management supervision on the day. The food was good and well presented.
Overall, our five night stay was memorable for many good reasons. and one of these was duty manager Thozama and her staff. She was 21 (+ a bit!) on the day we left - we will not forget her kindness and understanding.

Sometimes you are so pleasantly surprised by the experience you almost cannot express the enjoyment you found. OK, so not everything was perfect, room service forgot the cutlery one time, and the pool is not heated. However, the staff are exceptional, going well above and beyond the required. Breakfast was amazing and room was perfect. I would have enjoyed staying here for many many days without issue.

Room Tip: courtyard rooms are great
