So the food is good mainly steak. Fish and was good to. Waiter apologised for delay in view of a gas leak which was appreciated. Service good. Comfortable seating. Excellent wine list. Large restaurant. Must book.

This restaurant is very modern on seafront
Great steaks although they have excellent menu choice if you don’t eat meat
Service good friendly
We prefer to sit in the front of restaurant in the booths on left and right hand side or large round tables downstairs
A must if you are in Cape Town

You should make a reservation if you plan for dinner. The menu card offers a distinguished variety of meals. We ordered ostrich filet which was the best one on our South African trip; the side dishes also ware excellently prepared. The waiter chased the wine: it was an advice of its prime! We will be guest again on our next stay in Cape Town.

This place is a shambles. It look old good with the meat counter, et al, but there is absolutely no substance to the initial impression. The food is mediocre at best and the service is terrible

Our hotel booked for us as was told that we could only be accommodates at 7:30 as it was full. Well, after our walk around the area, the kids were hungry so we arrived there at 6:45 to see if perhaps we could have a drink while we waited outside. Well, the restaurant was almost empty and we had a choice if tables straight away. Not sure what the 7:30 timing was about. We should have picked up the signal that it was poorly run

We then ordered ribs: a larger platter of mixed beef and pork ribs. We were really looking forward to it but we’re very disappointed. They were very poor. The “special sauce” tasted like it came from a cheap supermarket. Definitely not as good as my wife makes or we get anywhere else in Cape Town or elsewhere for that matter. Very disappointing. The baked sweet potato I had with it was stone cold. Absolutely room temperature. I think it must have been prepared for a different table and been rejected by them. The onion rings were terrible: tiny stringy things. Nothing really to eat and certainly hard to find the tiny onion shards in the batter. The fries were average. But the pumpkin was actually very good

We couldn’t wait to leave so asked for the bill. Kept trying to catch the waiter’s eye to chase him up. 20 minutes later, got up and walked out, paying the bill at the reception. The people there didn’t seem bothered that we had been waiting so long either so I hope that they do t just blame the waiter for the shambles that the whole place is

And it wasn’t just us. The other table occupied near us seemed to have some real problems. Not sure if the details, but the manager came to see them, I could hear raised voices, much apologising from the manager with lots of excuses about his staff and then a request for a 50% discount

What a poor place in the city that we consider one of the culinary centres of the world

If you want a proper steak in Cape Town with great service, rather go to Belthazaar - or anywhere else frankly

Firstly Bell our waiter was such a splendid chap he made our evening seamless and perfect. Great wine list and cellar in the middle of the restaurant, fantastic views out to sea (and Robben Island- leading to a spectacular sun set show!) and the food was super high quality and great portions. Oysters (fresh and stellar), griddled baby calamari (you could be on the amalfi coast - that good), plus prawn and avocado to die for - then you visit the butchers counter and review his fayre - pick your joint and he cuts your meat to your preference and talks of how best to cook. Not critical but perfect Brownie desert and stellar wine choices and services made this both a memorable and splendid evening - heartily recommended
