Had such an awesome time here! Stayed in the Giraffe Room with a nice big balcony that overlooked the pool and had a great view of Table Mountain from the side. It's located in a prime spot and takes a simple, short walk to some great restaurants, bars and cafes. Future and Luca were very accommodating and Future made one of the best gin cocktails I've ever had. Can't wait to stay here again, I'd definitely recommend it!

Dear Aidan,
Love that you rate our giraffes and gin -- a perfect pairing indeed! Thanks so much for your glowing recommendation, highlighting some of our key plus points: proximity to both Kloof and Bree Streets with their range of great eating and drinking spots is certainly a big one! As you experienced, we're fortunate to have 7/8 of Cape Town's best restaurants and the same number of interesting cocktail venues and cafes within less than 10 minutes' walk from the front door. A gastronome's delight!

Future's over the moon that you so enjoyed his cocktail -- and just waiting to top that one on your next stay. We look forward to welcoming you both back very soon-stay a bit longer this time!

With very best wishes from the whole team,

Anahid

Thanks to Luca and Future we had an amazing overnight stay! They made us feel welcome as we stepped into the guest house. The rooms and facilities are exquisite and the decor in the house is amazing! We thoroughly enjoyed the swimming pool and jacuzzi! Also another great plus is that Kloof street is within walking distance from the guest house where there is a variety of top notch restaurants to choose from. Thank you so much for making us feel special during our stay with you

Thanks to you, Chantelle, for such a brilliant review! We're so pleased that we were able to make your special occasion extra-special--"the Derwent House difference" at work . . . Luca and Future are part of our amazing team that bends over backwards to exceed your expectations--recognised by TripAdvisor reviewers as delivering the best service in South Africa for the fifth year running. Now you know why . . .

And I'm delighted that you felt at home and appreciated the ambience, comfort and decor of the hotel. It's wonderful to welcome guests back again after a long quiet Covid-induced spell and we loved spoiling you both in the jacuzzi and pool--just as it's meant to be!

We do hope that you'll be back again soon and meanwhile, look forward to welcoming your friends and guests with the same Derwent hospitality. Once again, thanks so much for taking the time to share your experience with other travellers!

Warm greetings to you both from the whole team,

Anahid & Armin

Such an ideal location close to all the major attractions (Museums, waterfront etc.) and lying just beneath Lion's Head, just a short drive away from good hiking!
Great coffee, bakeries and restaurants are literally a walk away.

The hotel itself is small but stylish and the owner's love for African décor and fabric shines through in carefully selected pieces throughout the hotel and rooms. Managers are friendly and always ready to help out or offer advice.

Thank you Anahid, Armin and the team for a fantastic stay, hope to be back soon!

We too hope you'll be back soon, AlisonM3325--your stay was way too short this time! You hardly had time to enjoy the proximity of what Kloof Street has to offer in terms of restaurants, cafes and other interesting and unique attractions, not to mention the myriad of hiking (and trail running!!) options within easy reach.

Glad you shared our love for the Afro-chic decor that makes Derwent House unique--Cape Town has such a lot to offer, it's a designer's dream!

Thanks for choosing to stay with us and we do hope that you'll be back next time for longer: Luca's a great guide for some of our recommended hikes and runs . . . We're all ready and waiting to show you more !

From the whole team, wish you all the very best,

Anahid

This stylish Cape Town guest house is like a warm embrace on a cold day in these challenging times. Enter the door and you’ll be greeted with all the essential Covid safe protocols at every stage of the check-in and stay - but they have otherwise crafted an ambience within that allows you to forget all about the pandemic outside. It’s truly an oasis. More warm, hospitable and responsive hosts I’ve scarcely experienced. From Luca and Future, the ever present mind-reading managers who anticipate your every need to Florence in the kitchen (who’ll customize her famous omelette to your every whim!) to friendly, efficient Kwanele who’s meticulously sanitizing everything with a smile. Sitting by the pool with our books in the sun - Future was on hand with a selection of sun protection products - and chilled watermelon and iced water to refresh.

Luca gave us the insider tips needed to choose the safest route to climb Table Mountain according to our fitness level and meanwhile equipped us with a rucksack loaded with iced water, map and towels on our way out.

Breakfast on Christmas morning was truly special ! The owners and team made us all feel like family - our fellow guests from France commented on how awesome it was. The lavish buffet spread complete with Christmas tree fashioned from fruit, the celebratory glass of bubbles, the canapés, Eggs Benedict and thoughtful personal gifts just made our day. With Christmas crackers, jokes and silly hats to top it off. If you have to spend Christmas far from home, make sure it’s at Cape Town’s most welcoming boutique hotel!

The really great quiet location is close to everything - including walking distance to lots of great restaurants- and excellent high-speed WiFi. We could not have asked for more. We truly loved our Derwent house experience. Thank you Derwent team for everything - we will definitely be back again soon.

Wow, Dellarella--massive, heartfelt thanks from all of us for this glowing review: you've made everyone's day here ❤️! We're over the moon that you felt so welcome, at-home and coddled during your stay. Indeed, some guests just settle in and immediately become part of the family--and you and your's definitely did so! We miss you already and hope that you'll all be back regularly on your Cape Town breaks.

We're fortunate to have some of the kindest, most caring and most professional human beings ever looking after our guests, so your shout-out for individual team-members like Luca, Future and Kwanele comes as no surprise. But recognition on a platform such as TripAdvisor from such discerning and experienced travellers as yourselves is so motivating--particularly in these challenging times. These guys and girls really do go above and beyond to make your stay the very best it can be and your appreciation is so rewarding.

And we're very happy that you enjoyed our gala Christmas morning celebration as well . . . It's not always easy to spend Christmas away from home, even en famille, so we do our very best to make it feel like home. The special circumstances we're all facing this year made it even more important to deliver festive cheer in spades--along with delicious food, bubbly and surprises . It was a joy to celebrate with you all!

You've touched on many plus-points we've worked hard to deliver at Derwent House. Thank you again so much for this fabulous review--but mostly, for your return booking: that's the very best endorsement of all!

Looking forward to seeing you all back again very soon!

From the whole Derwent team, all the very best!

Anahid
