We stayed at Derwent house during our visit in Cape town. It is beautifully located in an area full of great and trendy restaurants, as well as close to the Table mountain.

The rooms are neat and tidy, with interior of a true person. Our room made us feel like guests at someone's house, which we really think is a great thing. The breakfast was good - fresh fruit, yoghurt, hot plates and more.

Last, but not the least, the staff is extremely service minded and friendly. We would definitely want to recommend Derwent house to everyone going to Cape town. It's great!

It's wonderful to hear from you that you enjoyed the home-away-from-home atmosphere at Derwent House, Julia S -- that's really what we're trying to achieve! And no surprise that you two gourmets enjoyed our proximity to Kloof Street with its abundance of excellent restaurants, bars and cafes. I don't think that there was a culinary experience in Cape Town that you left undiscovered in your three intense gastronomic days with us (starting of course with our famous breakfast) . . . I also hope some of our gastro tips for your onward travels were good!

Thank you for this great recommendation and recognising our staff. We really enjoyed hosting you for this visit and hope that it won't be the last -- come back soon!

On behalf of the entire team, our very best regards from Cape Town,

Anahid & Luca

I don’t know where to start... just blow’n away by this lovely, friendly, nicely decorated boutiquehotel well located in Gardens, just a few steps away from vibrant Kloof Street. I stayed in one of the Beautiful rooms, with a very nice view/terrace (large and sunny terrace) facing the Table Mountain.
Comfortable room/bed where nothing is missing. Even a free handyphone with internet to use during the stay. Breakfast is just delicious with a hot menu to choose from. I tried quite many things as i stayed for 12 nights and EVERYTHING was very yummy! Florence, the chef, makes the best omelette i’ve ever had. Free afternoon tea/coffe with freshly baked cakes and the honesty bar with wines displayed every afternoon makes this place so different, cozy and homely !
The staff is very polite, helpful, caring, professional, yet personal. Always very helpful and happy to give you advises, book trips/tickets/tables at nice restaurants.
I can’t recommend this place enough! Already booked another 12 nights in december and can’t wait to go back to lovely Derwent House and faboulous Capetown again. Thanks to all the staff and owners for an unforgettable stay with you

We all miss you, majaGothenburg--Derwent House is just not the same without you! You just became part of our family . . . Florence sends special regards and asks when you'll be back for more omelettes, crepes, and cakes . . . and your birthday cake was a special labour of love -- thank you so much for sharing!

The heartfelt warmth and enthusiasm of your review gives us all warm and fuzzy feelings. You're so sweet to elaborate on what you enjoyed in such great detail -- it not only helps and motivates us to have such detailed feedback, but also your fellow travellers. We're all delighted that we made you feel at home for this visit and that you'll be coming back for more. There's no greater commendation that a return booking, after all!

Thank you for taking the time to share this generous review--we really do appreciate it. Looking forward to welcoming you back before the end of the year!

On behalf of the whole team, every one of us, very best regards,

Anahid

Our second visit and enjoyed a truly relaxing and wonderful time.
Anahid and her team will look after you superbly well in a relaxed and effortless manner, which belied the hard work they all undertake to ensure you have a wonderful visit to this beautiful hotel and fantastic city.
Looking for suggestions of places to visit? things to do or restaurants to eat at? just ask. These guys keep up to date with what’s going on in the city and further afield.
Prior to checking out and moving on to visit Franschhoek, they kindly arranged a private wine tour for us, even though we would not be guests by the time the wine tour came around.
Folks, you guys do service superbly well. Thank-you and we look forward to visiting again although, hopefully we won’t leave it so long.
Last, however, by no means least, thanks Luca. You deliver service, professionalism and warmth towards your guests effortlessly.

Kind regards,
Aileen & Derek

Definitely don't wait so long next time, Aileen and Derek! I'm delighted to hear that we lived up to the expectations established on your last visit -- and you're so right: we're fiercely proud of our beautiful city and take our hosting responsibilities -- including the insider tips -- very seriously! (Wine is just a small part -- but incredibly important !)

Thank you so much for your lovely compliments on the service you experienced with us, and especially for singling out our service-hero-in-chief, Luca. We do feel that our team go above and beyond to make sure that your stay is as perfect as we can make it, and this really comes from the heart. It's the people who make Derwent House special indeed, and we're duly proud of being awarded Best Hotel for Service in South Africa 2018 by TripAdvisor users like you, just last week.

We really enjoyed having you here and look forward to your next visit. I promise an even better Derwent House when you come back!

Sunny greetings from all of us to both of you,

Anahid & the Derwent team

Having just survived an 11 hour flight, Derwent House's owner Anahid and her wonderful staff greeted us with such warmth. We had a wonderful chat with Anahid about how she & her husband ended up in Cape Town (great story) while relaxing by the poolside over some drinks. Everything about the hotel oozes charm & quality, the room, the bathroom, the superb balcony, the bespoke decor, the wonderful breakfast -- it is also apparent that Anahid has chosen her staff to reflect her values on the hotel itself. There is nothing mediocre about anything, the place has obviously benefited from the personal taste and touch of its well-travelled and experienced (in the hospitality trade) of its owners. The only regret I have it not being able to say goodbye to Anahid when we checked out as she was away -- hopefully next time.

Room Tip: Room 3 has a good sized private balcony overlooking the pool from the front and Table Mountain from...

A charming boutique hotel just off Kloof Street with a view of Table Mountain. We stayed here for four nights before taking the train to Johannesburg. Every member of staff was very friendly and helpful, the breakfasts were delicious and our room was quiet and comfortable. There is a sitting room with a small library of books on local history and places of interest.

Hotel personnel arranged for us to be met at the airport and offered excellent recommendations regarding local restaurants. We really enjoyed our stay in Cape Town and would love to return to this hotel.

We'd love to have you back, Llama11 -- thanks so much for this lovely commendation. I'm so pleased that you ate well in the neighbourhood on our tips. Cape Town is a real foodie town, and we're luck enough to be situated at Ground Zero for great eating options in the city, but we love to eat and drink ourselves, so take pride in our very personalised recommendations based on your culinary preferences .

We're delighted that Derwent House was a comfy and "charming" for your short stay in Cape Town -- please come back for longer next time!

On behalf of the Derwent team, warm regards from Cape Town,

Anahid
