This is the perfect place to start a holiday in Cape Town and the Garden Route, and one could not fault Floreal House in its position at the foot of Table Mountain. The staff are exceptional and the facilities perfect, the breakfast is superb and the daily snack menu very suitable for during the day. Our only criticism is that without a car it is a long walk down into Cape Town and even more of a hike back up hill!!! It really is necessary to have a car at Floreal House from Day 1. It is an ideal base for any holiday in the area. We could not recommend it more highly.

Room Tip: We had a room on the ground floor which was fine, very well equipped. Other rooms in the building are on upper floors and some even have air-conditioning, which we did not need, but we had no outside space to sit quietly and read a book, this could only be done around the pool area.

Truly a home away from home. I have been staying at the Floreal House for the past 7+years during my business trips and every stay is always better than the previous. The staff are always pleasant and helpful and make you feel at home. The rooms are spacious, modern and extremely cosy. Each room is equipped with a fully stocked bar fridge as well as a snack basket (honesty bar). What makes the place extra special is the main lounge area where you can either sit back relax and watch some TV or just mingle with the other guests and make conversation. Breakfasts are always good, serving the best of local. My home away from home.

Floreal House is situated right at the foot of Table Mountain. Actually, you cannot get much closer! Beautiful views of Table Mountain and the harbour right in front of you. The guest house has such a warm and inviting character. Luxurious and very pleasant.

With a fantastic view of Table Mountain from our room we couldn't have asked for a better base for our time in Cape Town. The staff were friendly and helpful and the breakfast was the perfect start for a day site seeing. Great little B&B.

Oir initial views were very positive with welcoming staff and the venue is lovely but after a couple of days we were left with the option that it felt like a hotel trying to be a B&B. May be my views were clouded by the excellent Guest Houses we have stayed in for the last 2 weeks. The room we had had was spacious and well furnished. An Internet link is provided but is very slow.

We did find the position of the guest house a little out of the way, as we did not have our own transport, as we were advised by our UK travel agent that we would not need to keep our hire car whilst in Cape Town, and had to travel by taxi every evening when going out for dinner.

The V&A Waterfront is some 3 miles away and 80 - 90 rand by taxi not including tip each way and the "on the bus off the bus" tour bus stop is a good 10 mins walk.

On our first night they did make us dinner but they were a little reluctant about doing so and were told by another couple that we had met at previous venues on our itinary that they had been refused. There is no where local to eat except a coffee shop that doe good snacks oposite the hotel .

A side from our experience on arrival our experience over a weekend was staff were sadly lacking except for at breakfast time. There was a security guy on the gate in the evenings who was very helpful.

Not sure if we returned to South Africa if we would stay at the Floreal again.
